I'm 50 and used to work out all the time before kids.. nowadays I run 5 miles each weekday and have done so consistently for about 20 years... trying to get back to weightlifting... or strength training... I about 30lbs overweight and haven't lifted since I used to do p90X back in 2010 which I really enjoyed...

any thoughts?

To be overweight and running so much, is your diet crap?
I would worry about that before an exercise app.

I tore my achillies in 2008 and I’ve never been able to run as fast… I run with my Dalmatian every morning - nothing too fast - maybe 30lbs is a bit too much but I’d take a 20lb weight loss for sure - anyway - I’m just trying to get some weightlifting in - because seems like after 50 it’s important to incorporate resistance training

I’ve been keto for about 5 years - don’t drink alcohol… haven’t touched it since 2016…. Eat red meat on weekends - I think my metabolism has just slowed quite a bit - LOL - didn’t mean for this post to turn into a referendum on my gut because I run so much LOL…

Stick to the basics until you get the muscle memory back a little. Pushups, situps, curls, body squats to start, and keep running. Throw in some shoulders/back when you get back in a routine with the basics

People who do only cardio can absolutely be overweight because their body doesn’t see a need to hold onto much muscle. Less muscle —> less calories burning when at rest —> overweight.
