I've decided I'm going to start doing this on M-F. Nothing drastic, but from 10P-12P the next day, I'm going to fast. So 14 hours.

For me, it's an easy decision because all I used to eat in that time window was a protein bar for breakfast. And I workout at nights so I'll be fueled for those.

Anything I should keep in mind or try to do to get better results?

Honestly, in my opinion if you do it, do it 7 days a week. It's hard to adjust if you keep throwing in days with morning food.

I suppose I could do 7/week. I workout sat and sun mornings, though. And I've never worked out fasted- just mentally have always felt like I couldn't push myself without energy.

I tried it a couple of years ago. I would workout at noon, then eat lunch. Eat dinner around 7. So 18 hours of fasting, nothing but coffee or water in that time. I typically did it on Monday and Tuesday, ate 3 meals on Wednesday, then back to it on Thursday and Friday. I saw some weight loss while doing it, and after a month or so I went back to normal eating as I was at my goal weight.

I do it M-F and have been for a while now. Final meal is at 730-8PM at the latest and eat the next day at 11:30. For better results would be to be picky with what you are eating for lunch and dinner. Use lean meats and veggies first. Its hard to lay off bread sometimes and other high carbs but if you can, you'll get much better results.

Yes, but more or less as an accident: I never eat breakfast. That makes it very easy to do.

Early Grace was one of the pioneers in this area (late 1990s I think) and followed a similar pattern. He ended up going a little crazy, although I don't think there was any correlation.

I probably don't get the full benefit from doing IF regularly but use it here and there to help maintain. Usually either the 16 hr fast (couple of times per week) or the 22-24 hr fast (once/month on average).

I decided to give IF after reading a few threads on here, and then researching it on other sites.

Today was my second day and first workout. The workout was surprisingly unaffected. However, I was ridiculously hungry after.

I've never tried it, but how does milk fit in to a fasting "diet"? I'm okay with taking my protein with just water, but its easier to stomach with milk instead.

I've started it. Eat from noon-8p. It's not too hard, but that morning workout hunger is real. Luckily BCAA's can counteract it somewhat

All IF is, is eating all your food in a certain time period during the day, say noon-8PM. You can technically eat whatever during that time frame and fast the 16 other hours of the day.

In Lehman's terms skip breakfast and don't eat after 8PM.

I've done IF numerous times over the last 6 years. Easy to follow and maintain. I also find my appetite picks up greatly when it's time for that postworkout meal. I like eating all of my meals after the workout, but I work shift work and the swaps from days to nights and sleep schedule usually mess that uip for me. So, I split the difference and eat early into the 8 hr period then have another small meal right after the workout. Not my optimal way of doing it, but it's the hand I'm dealt with the schedule I have.

BCAA's help throughout the day. The new Scivation Xtend GO with caffeine works great if you're feeling lackluster and need a boost on your fast. After 6 years of doing this, I've allowed myself to mix in a protein shake during the fast occasionally. It technically breaks the fast per se, but I haven't noticed it hampers the diet and results compared to not drinking it.

I have done IF since January consistently with gym for 6 days a week and went from 288 to now 243 pounds. It's simple to follow. I do noon to 8pm so I go to gym around 11 then can eat after.

With coffee, I find I miss the creamer more for its ability to cool down super hot coffee. A little bit of crushed ice in the bottom of the mug seems to be an easy solution. I then add some spices like cinnamon to help with the taste.

I've also been trying to read up on if certain types vitamins and supplements like fish oil should be avoided during the fasting period.

It seems that this is hotly debated, but the overall consensus is that they probably don't hurt. However, you should try and take them during the fed state to increase absorption.
