I will be fasting during March. Week 4 of 4 Completed!
Posted on 2/26/21 at 7:57 pm
Posted on 2/26/21 at 7:57 pm
Starting Monday morning , March 1st.
Ending Monday morning, March 29th.
My Goal:
I would like to lose 30 plus lbs for the month. And lower my blood pressure.
Anyone want to join me? (Caution: If this is your first time fasting, don't do this.)
The plan is simple:
1.Eat two meals Wednesdays and one meal Saturdays.
On Wednesdays, for breakfast I'll eat 2 eggs, 2 pieces bacon and a guacamole mini pack. For dinner, I'll eat a beef and vegetable soup. (Walmart has guacamole mini cups found near the bagged lettuce section. I will likely be using that.)
Saturdays I'll likely eat at a restaurant or buffet. Salad. Meat and vegetables. Avoid anything sweet. Limit carbs. No bread. No rice. No pasta. No soda. Unsweetened tea is fine. No dessert.
2.Drink water and electrolyte mix.
I make my own electrolyte mix without any sweeter, but to keep it simple I would go with the sugar free Propel powder packets. Two packets per day. (Available at Walmart.) And maybe toss in a fast dissolve B12 tablet.
If you want to avoid Propel, for 2 liters of Water use:
1 teaspoon of Potassium Chloride (NoSalt brand. Available at Walmart)
3/4 teaspoon Himalayan Pink Salt
I will also be taking 200 to 400 mg of Magnesium Glycinate nightly. For help with sleep and leg cramps that I tend to get during long fasts.
Note the electrolytes (salts) will keep you from feeling like crap. If you feel light headed or feel like you might pass out, drink some Gatorade with sugar in it. Eat something. Then start fasting again.
3. Light exercise.
Walking 5 days per week. Don't over do it or you might not last a week. (I will start with 1 mile.)

I’m interested in the challenge but I can’t lose that much weight. If I was already close to my goal weight how much would I lose?

I'm finishing up a 72 hour fast now and lost 9 pounds so I didn't lose a massive amount. 5'8". Went from 160 to 151.

Then just do it for two weeks.

That sounds dangerous and unhealthy. Hard pass.

What are you going to eat/how do you structure your two meals

It's only for a month. I've been eating like crap for a year. I need a big jump start. That's why I'm doing it. And fasting isn't dangerous nor unhealthy unless your trying to hurt yourself by do stupid things like exerting yourself too much.

It's only for a month.

This seems ridiculous. No offense OP. I did a 72 hour fast to end 2020 and went about 90 hours altogether. Most of all, i thought it helped reset me from some bad eating habits. To lose 30 lbs, I woukd start with a 72 hour fast and then a well structured diet after. You have to set realistic goals and i think you could drop 30 lbs in 6 weeks with a structured diet.

I understand what you’re goal is but I’m confused on how you’re calling this a month long fast since you’ll be eating 2x a week?

Not sure if I could go without eating that long.
I get too hangry.

I'm pulling for you and welcome daily updates if possible. I especially want to know how the buffet goes

Thanks, but the only updates I plan to do are weekly. This first week should be easy. Only two 48 hour fasts.

Wednesday the 3rd of March.
Down 9 lbs this morning.
So far so good. Had a headache that lasted about 24 hours. My guess is caffeine withdrawals. I'm feeling good now.
For breakfast I ate 2 eggs, 1 sausage patty and 1 guacamole mini cup.
For dinner I plan to eat 1 can of Campbell's Old Fashioned vegetable beef soup.
I walked about a mile on Monday.
Skipped walking Tuesday due to cold and rain.

Saturday the 6th of March.
Down 12.6 lbs this morning.
Still feeling good overall.
I walked a mile Thursday and Friday. I felt better than I expected to. No aches.
I feel hunger pangs a little more than I would like, but it passes after about twenty minutes. I think that's the hardest thing about these short two and three day fast. For me, the hunger feeling tends to go away around the end of the third day.
Today, the plan is to eat at a Chinese buffet in Lafayette. I will start with a salad. Then do the hibachi grill with vegetables and beef with bean sprouts (noodle substitute). Then do my best to avoid anything with a sugar sauce or breading. No dessert. No soda. Water or unsweetened tea.
I typically go to the King Buffet in Lafayette, but I welcome any recommendations for other Chinese restaurants with a good hibachi grill and salad bar.

My apologies to the man wearing cowboy boots in the Camping World restroom in Lafayette. I should have flushed sooner. Sorry for your labored breathing and singed nose hairs.
I knew the risk so I brought an extra pair of underwear and shorts incase the worst happened.
So yes,if you fast you will likely get the squirts.
The key to not crapping your pants is to head to the restroom at the first warning you get.
