Any males experience this? Symptoms, and how treated? Meds? Life changes?
Thanks

I have it for the last 20 years. I had some dizziness and the doc did blood work and diagnosed it. I'm on synthroid, name brand, not generic which isn't as high quality as name brand. I have no issues at all, there are no side effects. I swim and bike at a high level and if anything, synthroid has helped. Endurance athletes are using synthroid as a performance enhancer as it is a low level stimulant.

I have it, sort of. Labs weren't in the "official" range, but nearly out of range, and I was symptomatic. I was essentially tired and cold ALL of the time, which prompted my doc to run labs.

I take a natural replacement once daily, and I feel great. Labs look good and well within the normal range.

Try taking beef thyroid extract from Ancestral Supplements. I've been taking this supplement for 6 months at two capsules daily, which has lowered my TSH from 4.8 to 2.3. My energy levels are up and the hair on my head is slowly growing back in all the thin spots. Avoid plastics when cooking or drinking, and limit or eliminate from your diet raw cruciferous vegetables, soybeans, and peanuts. These foods contain goitrogens which disrupt thyroid function by inhibiting our body’s ability to use iodine. More specifically, goitrogens can block the process by which iodine is incorporated into T4 and T3 hormones. Goitrogens also inhibit the release of thyroid hormone by our thyroid gland and disrupt the conversion of the thyroid storage hormone T4 into the active thyroid hormone T3.

I guess the doc screwed up my blood work when it showed my levels were low after I had taken the generic for 6 mos. And then went back to normal when back on synthroid. There is a lot of info online confirming the generic is not as potent.

Most brand-name drugs do not differ much from their generic counterparts, so switching between the two is not an issue. Levothyroxine, however, is one of a handful of exceptions. The versions differ in two key ways: potency and added, usually inactive ingredients.

The active ingredient is the same. It’s the added ingredients which makes it different for some users. The quality is the same.

No the quality is not the same. The added ingredients in the name brand enhance absorption, hence the quality is not the same.

The quality of the active ingredients are exactly the same. It’s the added ingredients which some user have problems with while some don’t. Again. The active ingredient is exactly the same.

The generic brand does not include the added ingredient that helps with absorption. That makes it a lower quality product.
