I just can’t seem to overcome this. I go to bed at about 12:30-1 every night because I go to the gym after work then come home to study languages, read, eat, etc and I feel there’s never enough time in the evening.

I understand sleep is vital for optimal results. I do mostly strength training and have seen the differences before that good, consistent sleep brings. But for a while now I just cannot go to bed before 12.

Any ideas on how to overcome this? I feel it’s a major weak link in my training.

Also, does anyone feel that icing actually works for occasional tendon pain? I get this from time to time because I train grip 3x a week and have a grip coach who pushes me.

Thanks.

Can you train in the mornings? Seems like that would eliminate all the stuff after work/gym so you can go to bed earlier.

are you doing the reading and studying to help further career? if not then quit doing that and get your arse to bed.

how early do you get up?

it may work but you are just numbing and covering up the pain. goal should be to fix the issue causing the pain, not numb it.

His name is Jedd Johnson and has helped many accomplish world class feats of grip strength. Grip is a small niche within strength training. Devon Larratt is an arm wrestler and most arm wrestlers don’t train grip directly (and I know this because I follow arm wrestling very closely)

I have trained in the mornings but it’s been about 13 years since. I am so used to eating periodically throughout the day to fuel my body for training

Sometimes yes sometimes no.

I try to keep my reading focused. Sometimes I have language calls that are late (calls with my Georgian and Russian language partners), so these calls are late. But yes I need to definitely prioritize and get to bed.

Will keep in mind!

Grip sport is a thing. There are certifications for IronMind, GHP and so on. Go on the gripboard forum and see for yourself.

You have the same problem we all do. Setting priorities. Obviously sleep isn’t number one for you yet.

Training in the morning is key.
Anyone with a good career, family, etc, that prioritizes sleep and/or takes pre, should lift in the morning.

I wake up at 5. Get my mind right.
Gym 6-7.
Showered out the door for work at 7:30.

disagree, it can be done at night easily, If i were to do it in the morning I would have to lift 430-545 as i have to be at work before 7 if i want every other friday off and i easily fall asleep after lifting so would much rather workout 8-930ish, shower, asleep by 10:30. i hate working out in the morning in most cases. I will if i have to but would much much rather afternoon.

True. I don’t have to be at work that early. If I did, afternoons for me.

yea in your situation i think you are prolyl right that mornings are better...in mine...not so much.

hell we have our first meeting at 715. if i have work going on in the field on my projects, contractor meeting starts at 630 so pretty much have to be there that early. Its like that for a lot of engineers that do work related to the plants.
