HIIT cardio and Adderall?

Doc just started me on ADHD meds. I’m healthy but probably 20 over my ideal weight. HIIT has worked for me before but my concern is an elevated heart rate. Anyone have experience with this?

HIIT is designed to elevate your heart rate. Unless you have pre-existing heart problems, I wouldn’t worry about it. My fiance has ADHD and is also on addy. She can exercise just fine. Call your doctor if you want peace of mind.

Any stimulant is going to elevate your heart rate, especially an amphetamine. You’ll just have to factor that in when assessing your fitness. The one thing you should be cautious about is overheating because amphetamines can interfere with the body’s temperature regulation system.

Just know your target heart rate for your size and what you’re going for. Check more often during the workout. Anything over that, stop and rest until it get below.
HR nearing 200 stop all together and re evaluate this med and workout regimen. Dizziness or light headed more that the usual hard workout. Stop.
Pulse that is rapid and irregular. STOP. Chest pains Stop.
Also, don’t be that guy who pounds monster or 4 Starbucks during the day on top of all of this. Nicotine. Don’t be that guy who smokes or vapes after work outs.
Be VERY WARY of any OTC supplements now. Weight loss, work out improvement supplements etc.
You are on amphetamines. LITERALLY the greatest performance enhancer in the history of mankind. The rest is just garbage that will complicate.
If you get hardcore into anything. Be very wary of cutting weight or restricting fluids at any point, say you had success and got competition good. Tinker with your body balance and still throwing speed on top of a dehydrated body is a recipe for many of the things above.

I’ve been on adderall or some form of ADHD medication since I was a young boy.
I was a weightlifter and powerlfiter in high school and I’ve recently taken up running. Never had any unusual experiences with either two activities and just the medication alone. Your fine. Your body always tells you when to stop but don’t use it as excuse. You can usually tell if your dying.

As others have said, watch your heart rate. And definitely, definitely make sure you’re staying hydrated. It’s easier to overheat on Adderall, especially if you end up working out outside. We had a HS football player die a few years back because he dehydrated quickly and they ended up connecting it to his Adderall usage.

Its okay just dont be tweaking too much - save your workouts for when you're on your way down
