Help me pick my first lifting belt.

I'm relatively new to lifting consistently. Started Crossfit in January, but due to sciatica issues I decided to focus more on lifting without the extra difficulties added by Crossfit.
I started doing stronglifts 5x5. My back has felt better than it has in a long time. I'm a little over a month in and getting to a weight where core stability is being tested a little. Yesterday, I decided to throw on the gym's communal belt hanging next to the squat rack. I've used belts before, but really didn't know what I was doing with lifting. Now that I'm a little more involved, the difference was substantial. Although I wasn't hurting the next day before, it felt much more stable with the belt.
My thoughts are to use a belt for lifts where I'm pushing myself, and go back to no belt at lighter regressions to allow the core to work a bit harder. But definitely wonder what the board's thoughts on that is.
I'm looking at the 6.5mm thick Pioneer lever belt. Any other good options without breaking the bank?

I’ve got a 10mm lever belt from Inzer that I enjoy, and it’ll probably out live me.

Sounds like you have a good plan. I use a belt when I start to get to maximal weights.
I have the 10mm Pioneer cut stock belt. Excellent quality! 6.5 mm would probably also work well.

I'm only thinking the 6.5mm because it's supposed to be a little more comfortable and I'm not really lifting excessively heavy weight.

If you do decide to buy a pioneer belt. Alan Thrall has a 10% off coupon code. “Untamed10”.

Came here to post about Inzer. Mine isn't a lever belt but I've had it since 2009. It still looks pretty new if you clean the chalk off.

I use a Rogue Ohio belt. I’ve had it for a few years now. I really like it. I bought it at a time when I didn’t really other reputable companies, so in all honesty, you can probably get a better one at the price I got mine (around $110). But, it’s a good belt that’s held up, and I still use it regularly.

I’ve been doing squats and deads on the greyskull plan - I’ve never really done them before at least not this consistently where I’m maxing out AMRAP every time. At what weight do I need to put on a belt? Is there a ratio to body weight to consider or is it more feel?

I think it really goes off feel and how much you want to push yourself. If you're doing an LP program, and feel like you're stalling then a belt may help you move those extra 5-10lbs that week.
I started using a belt when my weight on Squats & Deadlifts went above 2 plates, but now I usually throw on the belt when I start moving over 3 plates.

I haven’t used a belt in a while, I’d usually implement it when I’m 80-85% of my estimated 1 or 3 rep max
