I'm going to ask about diet recommendations and get the routine stuff done including blood work. Are there any tests that I should request that are outside of the standard stuff?

I would ask a dietician about diet before a general physician. All I get is “eat more fruits and veggies and cut out fat and carbs.” Thanks doc.

Did you ask for an extra finger?

How old are you?
Definitely ask for heart calcium score if you are over 35 and have family history of heart disease.
Be prepared for a non answer from the doc on diet. My last one showed me the food pyramid
