My dad just had his out a few weeks ago. His advice would be to not try anything new away from home or a bathroom. If you're not ready for it, you need to be by a bathroom very quickly after eating.

My buddy got his removed and all I remember is how he would have to shite within 15 minutes of any meal. Was pretty funny

I had mine removed October '21. For the first few weeks I went easy, limiting my fat intake (the surgeon advised this to allow your body to adjust to no longer having the gallbladder). I had some minimal diarrhea and taking psyllium husk was a huge help as my body adjusted.

I had a GERD flare-up about a month after but it subsided within about 6 weeks and the surgeon said that it wasn't uncommon for that to occur in the initial weeks after the surgery. I just added Carafate because it's a bile binder as well and it calmed down.

Up until some COVID issues in November, I could eat just about anything. The only thing that would give me bowel issues afterward was heavily breaded fried fish and if I took an Immodium it slowed things down enough to make it manageable.

After 2 visits to the ER, I had mine removed a year and a half ago. No real bowel issues. Those attacks were hell.

Mine wasn’t passing enough bile to get to the stomach so I was having major issues after eating

Same thing happened to me. Heard about diet changes that would be required. Might be the case for someone but not for me. I resumed eating exactly what I did previously. No change at all. Eat what you want. If you have any issues cut back on that food.

No need for a wholesale change of diet in my experience.
