For shits and giggles I got my arse out of bed and was at the gym at 5 when the doors unlocked. I was on my last workout for PPSA Big Back Billy and it's my 4th straight PPSA program so I'm in a pretty steady routine. I struggled to get all my reps in where I typically cruise and couldn't finish all the reps on some of my last sets. Didn't feel the intensity I usually feel over lunch, didn't feel the energy, didn't feel as warmed up after the warmup sets. Not sure if it's a mental thing or what. It's nice to have the workout done for the day, but definitely was not able to hit it near as hard as I can over lunch.

It's kind of what you are used to and not used to. For me I feel lethargic in the afternoons after I've eaten during the day and all. But I can grind in the morning. I use extra motivation like "everybody else is in bed, I'm here" type of thing.

morning. too many things can happen throughout the day to derail an evening workout.

Main reason I stick to nights. It is what my body is used to. I ride my Peloton every other day. Typically a couple of 45 minute endurance type rides each week, one longer one, that can range from 60-90 minutes on the weekend, and I'll throw in another 30-45 minute ride that is more intense one night each week. One Saturday I tried to ride mid-morning, thinking I would feel more rested and have more energy, but it was tough. It was like 9:30 or so, and I'd been up a few hours, had a healthy breakfast, slept well the night before, but I was still dragging. Of course I felt great the rest of the day, but during the workout it felt tougher, and it was my usual hour ride on a Saturday.

Same thing with weights. Found myself working at home one day, and decided to get my lifts in at lunch. Same weights, same number of sets, but was struggling on the last couple of sets on heavier lifts to get all the reps done.

gym at lunch

Just an hour to lift? Maybe I should stop powerlifting and just be a bro lifter. Would save time.

Because you didn’t have any food in you. I go in the evening, morning workouts are trash when you are advanced and lifting heavy

Wife’s 9 months pregnant so this may change. I usually just plan day by day based on what’s easiest for us. I hate waking up early but will do it if I need to.

Once little girl gets here I don’t know what I’m gonna do

I don’t work at a place that holds me to an hour lunch. I take as long as I need to lift, sauna, shower, and eat.
