Don't remember anyone having them when I was a kid.
Now they're a lot more common.
GMO food to blame?

I think you just didn’t notice it. Not something you notice unless someone tells you. And today, you will know because everyone HAS to let the world know about their allergies.

My kids have them bad. Nothing to do with GMO food. 99% of allergens come from 8 foods and many of those have nothing to do with GMO
Mine developed it to shrimp after eating fried shrimp about 10 times. At 3 I gave him a boiled shrimp fresh off the boat....boom kid looked like will smith in hitch. My middle has never had shell fish yet is deathly allergic.
Middle kid had natural pb for the first time at 1.5 and instantly had a reaction.
I think its a combo of the follow
1) we are way way too clean as people and we don't get exposed to nearly enough germs as kids now causing the immune system to be underdeveloped.
2) Mothers are being way too careful on what they eat while pregnant now and what they are exposing the baby too causing the immune systems to be underdeveloped.
3) Social media and 24 hours news reports have caused parents to wait until later to allow kids to eat things like shell fish, eggs, nuts etc. If not eaten the body will reject those adn develop anti bodies.
4) under reporting in the past due to doctors not being as aware of the symptoms is the number one thing imo.
5) The basic Western diet with so much processed crap has damaged our gut health to the point where we are more suceptable to allergies developing.
Good thing is we live in amazing times with the development of oral immunotherapy which imo will advace so rapidly by 2050, food allergies will be able to be treated with in a year to the point they will be eliminated for life.

I decided to go straight-paleo with our 4th kid and my genius arse gave her egg yolks for her first food. Turns out, she's allergic to eggs.

Same, at 14. Probably had some sort of crustacean at least twice a week until then
