I’ve had a cold for the last week. Last night I finally felt like I was starting to get over it but still had a slight cough.

Well I wake up this morning and my god damn left ear is completely shut. Feels like constant pressure in my ear and I’m hearing through water. Not that much pain yet but shite this is about an annoying as it gets. Concerned it could get infected then I have a real problem on my hands.

What types of remedies do y’all have for this?

I can help you. I had this a couple months ago and it drove me absolutely insane and I finally went to the doctor about it.

They said its simply fluid trapped in the ear behind the eardrum and the sinus cavities and drainage tubes are too swollen/clogged for it to drain out.

They prescribed me Amoxicillin, and then told me to buy some ibuprofen(I used advil and advil PM) and over the counter allergy medicine like Zyrtec and to take the Amoxicillin 3x a day and advil 2x per day and Zyrtec 1x per day.

After about 10 days it finally cleared up for good, though on Day 1 it started getting better, although it came back for a bit midway through. Just be patient and ride it out.

I have bad allergies and always have clogged ears. I keep a small glass vile with an eye dropper cap filled with peroxide. Throw it in the sink and let hot water run in it for a minute then out a few drops in your ear. Lye on your side for 10 minutes or so....sometimes longer until you feel the peroxide break through and go deep.

And yet they still prescribed an antibiotic? Pointless and it did more potential harm than any good.

It’s amazing to see providers overprescribing antibiotics with the tons of research we have now.
