We have 6 yard chickens and they give us about 46 eggs a week. We feed them non-GMO 16% protein pellets plus vegetable and fruit scraps. Statrtimg around November through January their egg production slows down considerably due to the short days but as soon as the days become longer they pick back up. One bag last about two weeks and is $16. So we get forty something eggs for about $8 a week. We have a Great Pyrenees that keeps them in line and keeps the wildlife run off.

I tend to not spend extra on that free range bullshite. There are no regulations on that. Chicken just needs access to the outside to be considered free range.

Similar to organic produce. There are inorganic products that can be used and it still be considered organic. They can still use pesticides that are washed off before going to the consumer.

Some eggs taste better than others. Eggs with bright orange yolks taste better than pale yellow.
