Anybody who gets the sniffles, a lil sore throat, every darn fool today says
" Ohhhhh, you got the covid "
My wife & i have little patience for ignorance. No, maybe we got a common cold like people got the last 100 years.

Had a cold a week ago. Dad started with some cold symptoms, too. He came down with the rona, I tested (unreliable tests though the rapid ones are) neg. He's bad off with basically strep but is negative for that.
I had one morning with rona symptoms (tight chest, short of breath), and then was good. I had the rona a couple of octobers ago with an extreme version of those symptoms. Basically we all got the rona. Wife had a couple days of cold symptoms this week. Neg test. No symptoms two Octobers ago. She's clearly just not affected by rona thankfully.
Only question is whether we all got the cold AND rona or just the rona and this round manifested in cold symptoms in part. Either way, the cold still exists.

My son and I had a cold right before Christmas. He got tested because it came at the same time as a covid exposure at school. He was negative so I presume I was negative as well. We were just regular sick...

It's still around. Since the pandemic began my son has tested positive for Rhinovirus (which I guess is basically the common cold), parainfluenza, strep and the Rona at different times
So yeah, there's still plenty of other ways to get sick.

The common cold has been rebranded to Omicron.

Omicron is basically a really bad form of strep throat combined with some upper respiratory issues. Not too serious but definitely make you feel like the pits. Common cold still the common cold.
