Changes to the Crossfit Games for the 2019 Games and beyond

LINK
The Open will move to October after the Games in 2019.
There will be Crossfit sanctioned events from Nov-June where individuals and teams can qualify for the CFG if they win the event: Dubai Championships, Wodapalooza, Granite Games, etc.
Fittest from each country (Male, Female, Team) where there is an affiliate (for the Open) will get CFG invites.
For 2019, the T20 from the Open and every country’s top man, woman and team will receive an invite to the 2019 Games.
Sounds like a bunch of changes that will get an individual or team an invite to the Games who doesn’t deserve it.
I can search for a Country without an affiliate, move, open an affiliate, win the Open since I’ll be the only male competing in my Country, and secure a CFG invite.
BOOM! GAMES ATHLETE!
ETA: Cuba doesn’t have an affiliate, so... Hail Raul Castro! Fiji doesn’t either...
CrossFit Fiji or CrossFit Havana.. Hmmm. Decisions, Decisions.

Not a fan of the changes

No one is.
I just spoke to Aaron Hanna and he has already decided to not do the Open next Feb.
You will have a shitload of undeserving individuals and teams at the CFG moving forward in Glassman’s effort to globalize it.
Also, since the Open will dictate 20 spots (2019) next year, doping will increase because you won’t get asked for a screen until well after the Open is over.

There are Athletes who place 6th and lower in some of the Europe Regionals who score higher than athletes who make the games in the US.
This is what they are trying to fix

You're assuming the overall talent pool of each Region from 1 to 40 is the same.

Giving the Top Athletes/Team from India (or other country with a weak CF talent pool) a CFG an invite doesn't fix it.

you're overestimating the ease
Lauren Fisher moved to the Meridian Region saying it was because she moved due to her boyfriend Rasmus Anderson. bullshite. She knew she had zero shot of finishing T5 in the new West Regional so she jumped at an opportunity to make the CF Games.
I guarantee someone will game the system to become the Fittest in Equatorial Guinea; or any other Country without an affiliate or athlete in last year's open.

The other things is that you’ll have over 150 men, 150 women and 150 teams competing at the games? How the hell is Madison going to handle that? Supposedly they were busting at the seems this year.

When does the contract come up for renewal with Reebok??
I have a feeling you’ll likely start to see “professional crossfit athletes” that are getting paid salaries by sponsorship companies such as Nike, UA, etc.
This is also quickly turning into a PGA tour like competition. “The Masters” will become the actual “Crossfit Games” but I believe it’ll lose its edge of importance of what it once was.

It was a 10 year contract signed in 9/2011.
A few more years remain.

Fraser is sponsered by Nike. Nike can’t even use the word crossfit. After he won Nike tweeted something congratulationing him on winning in competitive training lol!

I’m not assuming anything. I’m just explaining one of the main motivations behind this move. That doesn’t mean I agree.

she jumped at an opportunity to make the CF Games.
She had already made it 2 years in a row and took 1st place in the 2016 regional.

They merged all of Cali with Canada west. She wasn’t qualifying out of the West Regional had she tried.
In the final Games ranking, she finished behind every qualifier from the West Regional.

That has nothing to do with how she would finish in the regional

I know, but she doesn’t qualify out of the new stacked Cali Regional if she doesn’t move.
