Bruised vs. Cracked Ribs

Took a fall yesterday and landed heavy on my side while stretched out.
And it hurts. Hurts to breathe, sit, stand, cough, laugh...sharp, breathtaking pain.
Not really keen on going to a clinic or emergency room for obvious reasons.
Don’t think I broke anything, but anyone dealt with this type of injury have any advice on the best way to self treat?
I’m taking 600mg of advil every 6-8 hours and staying very still.
TIA

Ice it.
Beyond that, there's very little you can do. Breathing will move the ribs around, and it's hard to stop breathing. It's one of the most frustrating injuries because there's basically no treatment.

The key thing is that the treatment for bruised or fractured ribs is the same.

Did you hear any popping or cracking - like when you pop a knuckle?
I was doing dips a few months ago and heard a loud pop in the center of my chest, instant pain that lasted for several days after. Apparently, there are muscles and cartilage in your ribs (who knew? I'm an idiot) that you can pull, tear, or can otherwise get inflamed. Now, I can make it pop on demand, it doesn't hurt but it doesn't feel great.

There's no treatment other than ice and rest. Cracked mine a long time ago and it is the worst injury I've ever had. You just can't do shite until it gets better.

I heard the impact when my ribs hit the piling.
That frickin’ hurt! But it hurt way worse later after I had relaxed in the recliner for a while and then stood up. Almost puked.

You may have intermittent pain for months.
Just when you think you’re over it, you strain picking something up, or you sneeze, or you let out a good laugh and BAM! Hello world!
