In the market for some new running shoes. I've read on here and other places Brooks are pretty good. I see they have a few different types, just curious what people on here seem to favor.

I run about 30 miles per week, mostly road running.

Thanks

Ghost 6 were some of the best shoes I’ve ever owned

Best is different for different people. Even when it comes to brands. But, Brooks Ghost is typically a shoe that works for a lot of people. Usually available at Academy or generic sports stores, so you can pick up last years model on sale quite often. Right now the Ghost 10 is like $120, but if you find the Ghost 9 in your size, it's going to run around $90.

Disclaimer: I run in Ghosts (half to full marathon distance). But it truly is their most popular shoe that a lot of people gravitate to.

I like the Ghost, and the new ones are great. I haven't had a problem with them and they seem to hold up rather well.

Hurricanes are the ones I like. But it depends what kind of running style you have. If you run with the wrong shoe you will end up getting hurt in one way or the other.

Thanks everyone. I have had success with Asics as my most recent running shoes. I have extremely flat feet, I will go and check out everyone suggestions on Brooks and see which one fits me best.

I randomly tried to run in some Nike Free Runs this week...holy hell they sucked for me.

Which Asics were you wearing? I wore Gel Nimbus for awhile until I switched to Brooks Adrenaline, and that's what I've been wearing for several years now.

i don't know that they're underrated, just not a known quantity. most people respect them a lot as running shoes. i love mine.

to the OP, i have ghosts 9 and i like them a ton, but not for really long distances. i'm at 200 miles on these and i may try glycerines for my next pair.

most people seem to like the launch, ghosts, and glycerins.

ETA: don't pigeonhole yourself into brooks. saucony, brooks, new balance, asics, newton, altra, hoka, saloman all make amazing shoes. people love adidas, but i think they're hideous.

try on 50 pairs. make your shoe sales people work for it.

this for me too. I just like the way the brooks feel when not jogging better. The ASICS were better for me as a pure runner

I've used Adrenaline and Ravenna. But I need more support due to overpronation. I had two different pair of Adrenaline, I think the 12 then the 13. I switched to Ravenna a while back. I need to get a new pair, mine are pretty much done for by now.

I have Glycerin, Ghost and Revel. For me, Glycerin is by far the best.

Trance were my personal favorites. The Adrenaline go completely against my gate, so even though it’s their go to shoe it doesn’t work for me. Really have to know what type of shoe you need for Brooks to work for you. Can’t just pick one online without any knowledge. Need to go and at least try some on.

I agree with you. That's how I ended up with the Gost and Revel. I Bought them online. I got fitted at Varsity Sports with the Glycerin, which turned out to be awesome for me.

Glycerin. I have really bad Achilles tendinitis ... that I sorta manage (It’ll never go away). moved from my nimbus/kayano to them. They don’t last as long as the ASICS brands I mentioned but they are easier on my Achilles.

I use glycerin. Bought two pairs and never really had problems with them.

It's Hoka One One. The One One is not pronounced like the number 1. It's pronounced like Hoka "Onay Onay". Not that it makes a different, but wanted to warn in case someone goes asking for them......and also just to be a little pretentious
