Ironically, the pain goes away while I run but if I walk for a while, it begins to bother me. Haven't been to the gym in a couple of days to give it some rest. Anyone have any advice before I schedule a visit to my dr?

How do you know if it is truly sciatica ? Could be pseudo sciatica. Do you know if it's a disc on your nerve?

I don't know. I do know that the pain shoots from the backside of my arse and down my thigh toward the knee. It begins to hurt so bad I have to stop whatever I'm doing and sit. It usually helps too if I cross the hurt leg over to stretch it. How would I know it's a disc issue?

It could be a piriformis issue. It's a muscle in your butt that touches the sciatic nerve. If it gets inflamed, you will get sciatica symptoms.

Look up pseudosciatica by piriformis

I had it last year and it was terrible. Deadlifts and a lacrosse ball fixed it.

Same for me. Thought it was sciatica, ended up being piriformis. Stretching and strengthening exercises are helping.

First place I'd start.

Get in there with a tennis ball or softer ball to start; work you way up to a harder ball like a lacrosse ball.

Once you spend 2min or so rolling it out, get a long stretch in a variation of pigeon pose.

Repeat a few times while watching a movie.
