Best food tracking apps with ai photo capture

Looking to lose 40 lbs in the next year and I have a solid plan in place but want a reallly good food tracking app that has the feature where you can take a picture of the meal and get a pretty good estimate of the macros breakdown. I saw another poster in another thread mention food visor so I looked at it last night and signed up for a trial but haven’t logged anything yet. Do any of y’all use those type tracking apps and which ones would you recommend ? I know they aren’t 100% accurate but from what I understand they can be pretty damn close and that saves a bunch of tedious time logging which is important to me. Thanks in advance.

Macrofactor has this function.
It works best if you post a pic and then also write a description, including your best guess volume of ingredients.
I only use it at restaurants.

This right here.

I can't see any way these are remotely accurate. I could take the same food in 2 bowls and pour a pound of olive oil in one and there's no way it would be reflected in the image yet it would completely change the macros.
Best app in my opinion is chat gpt. Just talk to it while you're cooking and it'll record everything. Then use one of the calorie tracker plug ins for record keeping. It doubles as a recipe guide too and can help you sub ingredients or tell you what to eat if you're low on a certain macro. I'm sure it can do the picture thing just as poorly as all the others too. I no longer log anything. I just tell it what I have and then it plans my week out for me

That’s a good idea. I’m using Muse as an ai assistant and it’s writing me up some good plans. I asked it after I took pictures of my breakfast this morning and it told me that the foodvisor app was def aiming a bit low. I’ll prob just kinda use both in the same fashion going forward. Between two jobs. Coaching . And my workouts and running id really rather not be breaking out food scales and taking forever to just log my food. I’m always gonna tweak my stuff on the high end to make certain I’m not going over my calorie allowance for the day.

I use marcrofactor.
But you have to pay a monthly fee to use their AI and barcode scanner.
Its pretty good, but can be inconsistent at times.
For example, I normally eat some overnight oats in the morning. I'll take a picture of it, and describe it as "half cup oats, half cup milk." And every morning it gives me a different set of macros and calories. This morning it game me 132 calories. Yesterday it was like 250 calories. And I don't understand why it does this.

Whats the point if its so wildly off with a simple bfast and you give it the volumes?

According to Donut (my ai personal trainer) my photo assessments have been very dang close. It’s a pretty handy tool but def not perfect. I logged everything today for first time with Foodvisor and I’m very happy with it so far.

It doesn’t do it always. I’ve weighed 8 ounces of cooked ground meat, then took a picture with no description for the AI. It was pretty close to 8 ounces.
But for whatever reason, it has an issue with the oatmeal.
When it does make a mistake, it’s normally pretty easy to notice, if you’re paying attention.
