It's not cheap necessarily but I've tried a ton and I like Kiehls; it's around $25-30
Dollar Shave Club is a close 2nd and it's only $9.
It's a necessity for me; if I don't use it I get beard dandruff and it's even worse in the winter.

This is what I use. My gf can tell a difference when I kiss her after using this consistently. About $11 at Kroger, but I'm sure you can find it cheaper online.

I've recently started using Beardbrand's utility balm. It's great but not cheap. When my job gets upgraded I'll probably start checking out more of their products.
Until I upgraded the balm I used Honest Amish balm and liked it. Try Viking Revolution on Amazon, I've liked their other stuff so far.

This is what I ended up going with. It was at the store. I needed it ASAP. A pretty good product but it isn’t a beard oil. I’m an idiot and didn’t know the difference between beard oil and beard softener/wash. I’m going to still get a bead oil too.

I always check the grooming section in Burlington's and they usually have bottles of beard oil at really discounted prices, usually around $4-5. Cheap enough to buy a few different kinds and find something that works for you.

these are the products i use and absolutely love it, can get it from the site or amazon. i went through a bunch of different ones off of amazon before i settled into this one. they have a couple of good smelling ones and recently started putting out one that doesnt have a smell if youd rather that. best stuff ived used by far.
