I'm curious about how many of you ise this service and how much it has benefited you. I'm about to start my second week and I have never been this fascinated by anything I have ever tried. It just seems so doable in the long term compared to other options. So how long have you used this service and how have the results been?

I think it is an amazing service.

I think it lacks two huge features.

1) For the reverse diet portion, my wife was/is terrible on how little calories she consumes and she is actually maintaining that weight. It's around 800 calories. I know it has got to be miserable. Anyway, when we put her on Avatar nutrition, they ask what your maintenance calories are. We put in 800 because that is what she maintains on. It said that was starving and couldn't put that in. Well now we are going to lie and put 1100 or 1200 just to get to the next page. Then the thing puts her at like 1400 calories. This balloons her up and it should have started much lower and gradually went up.

2) It needs to have a feature to say that you want to lose weight "by this day" and give you a program to follow so that you can get your results or close to your results by that day instead of guessing yourself.

I agree with #2 but #1.. I know your wife is gonna freak at any weight gain, but it's normal to initially put on some weight and then it comes back off. Gotta trust the system. It will figure it out.

I understand the gain, is going to happen. However, going from 800 calories to 1400 or whatever is a huge jump and its counterproductive. The body must adapt slowly or it will just get fat and bloated. The weight will discourage and the amount of food is tough for her. It needs to be slower. Now if the maintenance was actually 1200 and it went to 1400, it would be a completely different story.

I'm just saying that they need to account for that low of calories too. It's similar to an actual starving person, you can't just immediately give them find of water and food. They could get sick. It must be gradual.

I haven't used it to cut weight yet. I have been on a reverse since mid-May and have gone from eating 1700 cals/day and struggling to stay compliant to currently eating 2800 cals/day, having gained about 5 pounds in a few weeks then stabilizing there. I'm actually back to slowly losing weight while eating this amount of food.. it's amazing. It's life-changing. I was thinking of going into maintenance for a few months once I hit 3k cals then go back to cutting, but I think I'm going to stick out this reverse until I hit 6 months (mid-november), unless I start gaining weight. Then maintenance for 3 months, then back to cuts. Slow, methodical, calorie cycled cuts..6 month cut, 3 month reverse, 1.5 month maintenance, then another 6 month cut, etc.

This is the most sustainable way of eating I've ever experienced. I feel like I'm fixing my relationship with food; I don't have to deny myself of things that I want day in and day out. If I want something, I can have some as long as i fit it in properly. I now routinely fit in oreos or Edy's slow churned ice cream, or beer.. and see no ill effects. Too much alcohol will cause me to bloat for a couple of days but otherwise my weight is stable or going down as long as I am compliant.

What is avatar? It's a service that uses a logarithm to provide you with macros based on your input.

Most crucially, it adjusts your macros based upon your inputs. It prescribes macros for you and you comply; compliance means your average weekly macros are within 10% of the prescribed amount, and weekly calories are within 5% of the prescribed amount. If you're compliant, it takes your inputs and determines what to do with your macros based upon your results and programming (fat loss, maintenance, reverse, or bulk).

In a nutshell: It's a virtualized nutrition coach. For $10/mo.

What hulk said and like a good coach, the longer you stay with it and more compliant you are, the better the logarithm becomes at adjusting for you specifically.
