My local pool is heated but I’m questioning how miserable this might be
ETA: My pool has a stupid rule that it closes under 45 degrees . I guess there heater isn't able to keep up

I do. It’s actually not too bad unless it’s really windy. I just started swimming again a few months ago and invested in some bone conduction headphones and they have been a game changer.

Yes, as stated above, windy conditions like yesterday kept me home.

Did it regularly in 2014... but that was in Kuwait and it was just too easy. I actually miss those times

Does the wind make the actual swimming rough or is it just when you hop out of the pool?

That thing felt like a hot tub in the summer.

I did until about 3 years ago when SMU built a natatorium and retired the outdoor pool. If you are swimming a good workout then your body heat keeps you warm for a few minutes when you get out. I did a swim when the outdoor temp was in the teens and that was cold when I got out. My coach is from Wisconsin and says he spent his youth swimming outdoors in sub zero cold. Get a swim parka you can through on immediately and it's not bad.

Little bit of both. Getting out when it’s cold and windy sucks. Swimming when it’s the same can suck to. I take the really windy days off in winter.

Just when you get out and then once you dry off excess water isn’t too bad. I swam yesterday and it was almost too warm. No hesitation.

Same. Its amazing how much better things get when you get away from too much oversight and everyone around you is there because they are actually good at what they do.

Used to do it twice week. I've been in the pool sub-40F. At least at the pool we swam at, it was no issue. You can just never stand up in the shallow end. You are staying as low in the water as you can . Staying in the car and sweat pants/shirt until right before jumping in and drying off and layering up as fast as possible. There were actually times that the heated water is too hot for an intense workout, but the air is too cold.

Yes. did a swim Monday at 45degrees. That's why they make swim parkas.

Anyone here open water swim? I have found out quickly that 60° water can be quite refreshing lol (cold) but very pleasant in a good swimming/tri wetsuit.
