I’ve had for decades. Curious how others deal with it.

Mine comes and goes. Caffeine and alcohol both make it worse and more likely to occur. Massages, exercise, and warm showers help some. But when it’s bad bad, there’s not much I can do about it. No sleep.

My MIL has it and my mom had it. MIL says it affects her sleeping while my mom only had it when sitting in a chair.

My wife does. She will get into a rhythm when she's asleep and it is like clockwork.

She'll be lying there on her back and will bend a knee and then stretch out her leg and it hits the mattress hard enough to shake the bed. This will happen about every 20 seconds or so for minutes at a time before she rolls over or I poke her to make her shift in the bed.

But it doesn't stop even if lying on her side, just not as much bed shaking.

I have it - always have. I notice it the most when I'm reclined in my chair or laying in bed. Also catch it when I'm reading a book.

I've learned to deal with it.

I've had trouble sleeping for years due to restless legs. I recently got on Mirapex and it has been pretty much life changing. I have not woken up or had trouble falling asleep once since starting it.

Just what I am told recently by a masseuse and a different person with RLS…. Magnesium supplements are supposed to help.

I don’t know if what I experience is truly RLS, but 5-6 years ago, I took some off the shelf sleep med (Unisom?) and holy shite my arms and legs would not giving me the urge to tense/flex them. I couldn’t even enjoy the mild drowsiness it gave me.

Ever since then, it happens 3-5 nights a week. The only thing I’ve found that sorta helps is to get up and walk around, maybe get a glass of milk or something. I’ve also noticed that avoiding caffeine late in the day (after noon) may or may not help. It seems worse on days where my legs are sore.

RLS is its own special hell lol

OP I have it really bad, almost every night until I started taking Magnesium. I’ll have to check dose on it and brand and edit later. It works great for 3-4 hours so I take as I get in bed. If I wake up hours later I’ll have it but will be half as bad as if I don’t take one.

Antihistamines can make RLS worse ... are you on any allergy meds like Benadryl or take it to sleep?
