I’m not sure if it’s my neck or the top of my back technically, but I keep having this recurring issue where I get a crick-like pain on either side of my spine right below my trap. There’s no specific exercise that triggers it, today it was squats. It’s really getting frustrating because it’s not enough pain to really keep me from doing anything, but it just hurts.

Anyone have any experience with this?

Go to the Dr, my neck started hurting and they did xrays that showed I had 2 chipped vertebre in my neck from an old accident that just started hurting years later

I had severe and almost debilitating neck pain from flying a couple thousand hours in a helicopter. Keto cured it. Not even joking Keto is so anti-inflammatory it will really help.

Trigger point injections help mine a ton.

I’m on keto currently so I doubt it.

Yours sounds higher than mine... I have an impingement on my right trap/shoulder. Keto really has helped, but it flares time to time. Same thing, not a specific exercise, but sometime shoulder pull throughs help. Foam roller and Lacrosse ball are my go to when it hurts really bad. Wish I had a long term fix, but that's about it.

Yeah I’ve been using both to alleviate it. More interested in prevention bc it’s starting to really get annoying having to deal with this once a month

Without knowing anything else about you, I’d bet thoracic mobility work and pec stretching would help

These are some good ones

I kept getting the same thing you did, severe cricks in the neck that lasted for days- and I figured out (for me) it was doing certain shoulder exercises.

I stopped doing upright rows and anything machine related to shoulders. By going free weight only seemed to stop all neck pains

Unfortunately, I primarily do free weight exercises. I steer clear of upright rows for this exact reason as well.

I’m looking into the trigger point injections as someone above mentioned.

could be someone with your trap or even your shoulder. Thought i had a neck injury and turned out to be something with my shoulder that feed into my trap and neck
