Goal is to hit 100,000 yards for the Challenge in February. So, with our workouts, I’ll add more laps to get to 5000/day/5 times a week.

Have to do 5000 today to achieve the goal and then start to taper for our upcoming Winter Invitational.

Curious as to how long your daily workout takes you to get to 5000?
I currently swim 2500 M-Th which takes me about 45 minutes per plus an easy 1500 on Sunday where I practice dives and breakouts.
Not sure if I'd have time to get to 5000 with other weekly activities.

About 2 hours. Last night, we did 12/150 free at a mile pace ( getting ready for the Maher Mile-1650 race this weekend) on top of 8/75 and 1000 warmup.

Today my body is sore and it is going to be a grind today for practice.

ETA: our practices range from 3000-4500 (depending if it is a recovery or all out day).

How many calories are you burning a day doing this?

Swam 10x50m freestyle sprints yesterday and was gassed. Do you ever get used to it?

Easily the hardest thing I’ve ever done, and I’m lean and in shape.

10/50s at .50 is fun. Try going 5/100s at 1:20/1:25, then 4:50s, 4/100s at 120/1:25, 3/50s...3/100s, 2/50s...you get the idea. good times today.

Calories burned...I have no idea, but I am consuming large amount f food and taking long naps. I just completed the challenge today...got over 100,000 yards and now will swim the 1650 meet Sunday. I told my coach that I will NOT swim for time in that event...saving for myself for the following Sunday meet (Swimming the 500/200/50 free/100 breast).

If you get used to it then you drop your interval??
As Mike alluded to; doing 50’s on :50 is a great workout when you’re pinched for time. I swim at lunch so my :45 time limit is strict.
I like to do a 500 warm up, 20 x 50 on :50, 5 x 100 on 1:30, then a 500 pull.

How'd your race go? I tried to google that race and didn't get much info. Is there a big turnout for open water swims in your area?
