Stretch for 10 minutes before every workout. Prime your muscles for violence.
Do a 4-5 day body part split. Just push yourself enough to be tired before leaving.

Depending on your fitness level, you could always try a workout program that you can do at home. The most important thing is just getting in the habit of exercising again in general. Then, as you make progress & build confidence, try hitting the gym. You'll be used to exercising and your fitness/confidence level will be higher. Sometimes it's a little to hard to just "hit the gym" again after such a long time. Just focus on getting active and setting small goals at first.

make sure you walk in with a gallon water jug. so even if you're weak and pathetic, they'll know you are at least a has been.

Maybe try a pre-workout supplement to help keep your energy level up. Pace yourself or do split routines so you have recovery time between workouts. I like music, so I have a workout playlist I enjoy. Just keep plugging away so going becomes a habit.
