I've been looking online at the Original Texas Power Bar with a black zinc finish. Nice looking bar.

I have lifted with TxPBs at gyms, bare steel and chrome versions I believe, never used a cerakote or zinc bar that I'm aware of? I finally bought my own bar during the pandemic, it is all bare steel, built to TxPB specs as far as the physical dimensions go, but due to the steel supply chain issues during 2020 it is not a real "Texas Power Bar". I believe when these bars were sold they were called the "2020 Coronavirus bars" (Unofficially), or something like that, but other than lacking the tensile strength/stiffness of a TxPB (mine wobbles and bows a bit under any load over 400lbs) it has great knurling(to me), and knowing that it will probably only be used by me, that knurling will most likely never degrade so even though I'll eventually buy an official TxPB for that higher tensile strength I love having this one as a general purpose/all lifts kinda bar. I think of it as a full priced boneyard bar.

I'll gladly be buried with it.

Are you familiar with their knurling? I love it, but it's the number 1 issue/complaint I've heard from others regarding their bars. Actually, it's the only complaint I've heard from people. Some don't like the aggressive knurling.

That knurlinh is the exact reason I want that bar. I bought a cheapy from Academy a couple of years ago and the knurling went fast. Bar is smooth now and I'm worried it's going to slip out of my hands when I'm benching.

In that case, you'll probably really like their bars. If you are working out at home, either solo or with a partner/maybe a few friends, these bars and their knurling will outlast all of you. Are you gonna get the standard TxPB or the new 29mm one?

Going to go with a standard. Changed my mind after a little more research. I'll spend a little extra and go with a cerakote finish.

i Have both the TPB and an ohio bar. Love both but I dont find the bigger peaks of the TPB knurling actually grip as well. The ohio is bare steel and has a little more grip to is as the peaks arent as high but they have a lot more of them.

love both though and would be surprised if i ever need to buy another power bar.

I have the stainless/matte Ohio Power bar and the stainleas/matte hybrid power bar, the hybrid has the aggressive aggro knurling and it's my goto bar right. It's slightly more aggressive than the OPB.

After spending another week reviewing them, I ended up ordering an OPB last night. Went with the Cerakote.

Looking forward to benching and not having my hands inch down the bar on every rep.

I have the bare OPB. Has amazing grip. I’ve had it 5+ years and has a little rust but nothing horrible. I like its knurling better than TxPB

Glad I took your advice. The knurling on the OPB is perfect.
