When I need to get to sleep and stay asleep, I take a benedryl and 6 mg of melatonin. I have to take both, because the melatonin wears off after a few hours and I wake up in the middle off the night if I don't. The make an extended release melatonin now that might work better. I have not tried it yet but plan to next time I need to change my sleep schedule.

Took 10mg time release Melatonin 2 nights ago, slept fine, took again night before last and was sleepy all day yesterday, didn’t take last night and slept almost 12 hours. Like that I was able to go right back to sleep after waking up, but the daytime sleepiness is miserable. Maybe I need a lower dose.

Everyone is different. Melatonin did nothing for me - tried it for about 3 months.
Gabapentin works well for me.

Sleep is an individual thing. Strong stress can harm sleep, poor nutrition, little activity. It is not always possible to solve this with vitamins. And take vitamins only after you know what your body need.

Don’t know about sleep but in general we are iodine deficient

I’ve tried magnesium but it took a few days to work - which isn’t necessarily a bad thing

I never really have trouble sleeping, but I do like making sure I get to sleep early before my morning run group or fishing tournament. A half of a Benadryl has always been my go-to, but I recently found the Sleepytime Herbal tea. Hard to believe, but it puts me out like a light.
