Option 1: $1560 with shipping and taxes

Rogue Monster Mini Rack with Bench (~$550)
Body Solid Olympic Straight Bar 7’ ($94)
Rogue HG 2.0 plates 350 pounds ($575)
Rogue Plate Tree ($175)
Clips, rubber mats ($75)

Option 2: $1700 with shipping (partially free through Amazon) and taxes

Fitness Reality Power Rack with Lat Pull Down Option, Pull Ups Bars, and Bench ($700)
Body Solid Olympic Straight Bar 7’ ($94)
Rogue HG 2.0 plates 350 pounds ($575)
Rogue Plate Tree ($175)
Clips, rubber mats ($75)

I get a little more with the Fitness Reality Power Rack, but Rogue is the bigger brand with much better reviews from serious lifters. This is also a bit of an unwanted expense. Would rather not drop this kind of coin right now, but it will pay for itself in two years when I drop the monthly gym membership.

I’ve looked online for used gear but I just don’t trust it. Don’t have a lot of time to shop around anyway, and I like the warranty options for new equipment.

Thoughts? Where can I save money?

I guess it depends on how much you are lifting.

I use a bench/rack combo with a pullup bar that allows me to do all of my major and supplemental lifts 5-6 days per week. All together, I only spent a few hundred bucks on all of it. If I was squatting 500 lbs and bench pressing 300 lbs, I would need something sturdier, but I'm not. I found my barbell, dumbbells, and all of my weights on craigs list or facebook here and there for 50 cents to a dollar a pound.

I don’t need much. Running Greyskull with some auxiliaries that I can easily do with barbells and a pull up bar. Benching 200 right now and deadlifting 300 as my heaviest lift.

The workout equipment on FB marketplace just looks dingy and I don’t trust them about the amount of weight it can hold. Would certainly like to save $1000 though.

Option 1 but do a rogue barbell. You will never need to replace any of it. Buy quality no matter what.

Look at rep fitness also.

In the end buy once, cry once. Beat advice I can give.

I bought a new bench/rack combo for just over 100 bucks on Amazon in December. I've put 300 lbs on it, and it has held up well to that weight. Your squat might pass that weight within the next several months though if you are deadlifting 300 now. You can probably find a decent one that will hold 400-500 lbs for 300 bucks I would imagine. If I were going to 1500 on a home gym, I'd go ahead and spend the extra 140 to get the pull up bar and pulldown attachments.

Btw have you been checking Craigslist or Facebook for deals on used commercial pieces?

You can go cheaper on a tree. Spend an extra 150 on Bar and get a Rogue bar new.

I got a Walmart A frame tree that holds 2x35, 5x45, 5x25, 4x10, and 2x2.5

The rest are on the rack

Rogue racks are not around 550 and a bench is around 150

550 is for the Monster Mini with Bench combined.

I’ve checked Facebook but not Craigslist yet.

LINK

Monster Lite is 365. 180 for the flat utility bench add on.

Edit - seeing my mistake. This is a squat stand and not a power rack.

Yea no. Get a wall mounted foldable if that's the way you want to go. LINK that getrxd is 3x3 11 gauge, accepts all monster lite accessories. Getrxd has plenty of accessories in itself.

Grab a teXas power bar LINK or the Ohio bar that rogue has in close out right now.

For plates do you have to have rubber?

I don’t. As long as they’re accurate and will have some longevity, I’ll be happy. I imagine rubber mats will help with deadlifts on my concrete garage floor.

You need to make a platform IMO. Not hard at all.

As far as accuracy, don’t worry about it. It’s not important unless you compete.

Just get craigslist plates but make sure they are standard size and try not to get different styles. It’s just annoying to look at and can change the height of a deadlift.
From what I remember
My Rogue R3 is around 800
Rogue power bar 275
Plates 400 but I needed a good bit more
Rogue bench 180
Mats 120
Plywood don’t remember
Bands 30
Clips 10-15

I'd invest in the Rogue rack and a Rogue bar and go cheaper on the rest. Maybe buy one pair of Rogue bumpers, but the rack and barbell will be taking all the pounding, so getting a solid build from them is #1.

So get these plates LINK

Add a set or two of 45s and still cheaper than the bumpers. They are the same as the rogue cast iron.

I would go when the rack I suggested or this 3x3 11 gauge from Titan LINK

You don't want just squat stands. Get the Texas power bar, build a platform.

This bench is better than the rogue, cheaper to LINK

Get a set of gymnastic rungs and eventually a weighted vest and a sled and you are set for life.

I found that PRX racks were a little cheaper than Rouge and have held up well for what I do. I bought the Murphy rack

I have that Titan rack that is linked and love it. Have the Rogue Ohio Bar, same plates but the rogue ones (caught on the black Friday sale). I ended up picking up some bumpers from a local competitor (so you can always add later). I bought the Titan deadlift platform, but you can build that relatively cheap.

ETA: I hated the Titan bench that came with the rack and just ordered a rep fitness one
