I have a friend whose child was recently diagnosed with AML (the child is under 10).

In short, I have read that the prognosis is not good. I guess I am hoping someone with some experience in oncology can give our community ideas on ways to help, as well as some insight into how the child’s age plays into this (hopefully positively). This sucks my friends. I’m heartbroken for my buddy and his family.

I wish I had an answer of substance for you and your friend, but I can fervently pray.

All I would think to immediately do is to get to the Houston Med Center.

May request to move to OT and get more responses. I know there is an oncologist that posts there some.

My best friend & college roommate was diagnosed with AML & ALL when we were freshmen. It was scary for sure, but there is hope. He has now been cancer free over 10 years. As others have said, get to MD Anderson or St. Jude. Best of luck and prayers for them
