It hurts and I don't feel I benefit from it.

I started to feel it wind mill at heavier weights and I felt one side "feel it" a little more. That's why I changed from mixed grip.

So close man!
it did sound like pain though
On deadlift I usually do four sets and then use one ton hooks for last set. Hook grip is a pain to learn to use and watching mixed grip bicep tear compilation is enough that I'll avoid the mixed grip.
What got you into these partial range exercises? Are you getting a lot of gains from incorporating them?

I'm doing Westside and I do max effort on variants. It's actually fairly low for a rack pull. It's only about 4 - 5" off the ground.
It does help me in two ways: one is to gain confidence with heavier weights and it brings up my weaknesses in the rep range. That particular spot is a weak point in the deadlift as it's usually a spot you already have momentum.
I'll do deficit deadlift next week.

I am also a sensitive person that likes long walks on the beach and sitting by a fire in my pj's sipping hot cocoa

More worried about a torture and eat my organs situation than a gun.

F that. I'm gonna try to get more next time. It'll be about a month when I try again.

You had that. Looked like you just gave up on it. Is that a home gym?

You could always give Cobra Grips a chance.
I bought them a month ago and within 2 weeks my deadlift was up 50 pounds
Actually just hit 2.5x my BW yesterday. Pulled 445 for the first time
