Looking for some good programs to run that are 3 days a week or a 4 day I can easily turn into 3 and space out. I like compound lifts, looking to squat once a week right now due to running a couple 5k ish 3-5 mile runs a week. Numbers I’m currently using for my maxes which I’m using a training max of 85 531 style right now bench 275 press 175 squat 395 deadlift 445. Still looking to slowly drop weight right now as well and my running times are very bad if that’s relevant lol about 50 min for 5 miles. Still at the high 220s right now at 5’10 which is about 15lbs off my weight when I was playing ball. Ive used 531 and GreySkull mostly in the past and like those the best of anything I”ve done just seeing what else is similar out there that might be good for a change.

Edit: I’m running to get in shape for hunting season because I know 777 is about to come in hot lol. A lot of days I’ll hit 10-12k steps during season with a backpack gun etc in pretty steep terrain.

Yeah sorry. It’s PPL and set so you can run however many days a week you want. I’m doing 3 now so I can try to ramp my running up a bit on the other days.

Ive ran krypteia and enjoyed it a lot but one of my knees always gives me trouble with all the squatting. May try to run it and replace the squats on the bench day with a kettlebell swing or something else. Prep and fat loss has worked well for me as a 3 day in the past ran the same style as the 2nd phase of krypteia

replace the squats with something else then. since you are running so much, just have deads and squats as your only lower body and add more back work in

I think I’ll run the redux and replace the squats with swings then only do 3-5 reps on the circuit work for the squat and drop the running to 2 5ks a week.

Which templates have you been running? I tend to end up running the same ones over and over

wendler has talked about running the 4 day templates on 10 day cycle bunch of times

the templates I run depend on my goals at the time. decide that, then decide what to do

so your goal is to continue fat loss while running a lot

well Jim recommends a couple different templates, but one thing he is pretty clear on is he recommends a 80% training max when running like you are. Jim specifically has said...running is leg exercise and you can not serve two masters at once

the main template he recommends for your situation is 5's Pro with FSL using 80% TM with 5's Pro with 3-5x5 FSL being the most sustainable

in the beyond book he recommends going to 2 day a week lifting using Upper, lower split

week 1-
day 1- squats(531), deads 3x3 @ 65-80%, assitance
day 2- bench(531), Press 3x3 @ 65-80%, assitance

week 2 you flip the main and supplemental exercises

the otehr he recommends full body 1000% awesome template using 5s Pro for main lifts and then 5x5 FSL

could also do off season for conditioning from the power lifting book

or

hear me out now, you cut out all that gay arse running, start pushing the prowler sled instead

Man I do not like the running, trust me lol running distance was always a punishment coming up in any sport I played ?? but I usually try to do some coming up on October/November or climbing mountains all day is absolutely miserable. I started the krypteia again a few mins ago I’m going to cut the squat back to 3 reps and replace the ones on the bench day. I’m usually alright recovering from a couple 5ks it has been more of a knee issue than recovery in the past but it gets tougher each year not too old but I’ll be 38 in a couple weeks. Trust me rhe day after I either tag out or season is over I’ll be done with it for 8 months and back on the airdyne

Check out muscle monsters on YouTube. I’ve been doing a 2 day a week (Monday and Thursday) 2 sets per workout with a warm up set if needed, for the last couple months and it’s definitely done me some good as opposed to 4-5 days a week. Recovery isn’t stressed enough.
