Figures you would come in here and blow this up. 10 thousand of ANYTHING isn't enough, you need more?

Well done. Gotta start somewhere.
When my gf started those she found them really tough.
Now she does forty five minutes to an hour every morning.
Keep it up!

Push ups will be as much ab work as I've gotten since I did Insanity about 18 months ago. We'll see how my body feels on 9/1

Tomorrow will be my test day. Gonna try to knock out 100 pushups and 50 crunches in the morning and see how I feel. That way I'd have a week to work my way up to doing that 3x a day.

i imagine it would be easier to break it up a lot more throughout the day
astro: i have a feeling it will get funny by day two

I've thought of a good way to break these up throughout the day that should work for most people.
Wake up - before breakfast do 100. Break them up to 4 x 25 or 2 x 50 if you need to. This will wake you up better than coffee and give you a good start to the day.
Lunch or Mid Day - another 100 broken up the same way. Might not be possible for everyone (like me) so there will be another option.
Get home from work/school - another 100
Pre-dinner - do 50 or 100. Some people will be done at this point.
pre-shower (ideally about 1 hour post dinner) - another 50 or 100
Doing them like this will put most people at 350/day, which will put you ahead of schedule and add a little wiggle room if you ever slip up for any reason.

This sounds like what I'll do.

i think 20-25 at a time will be most optimal for the average person...if a person has a desk job, then doing them right there throughout the day should make it easier
is it sad i want to start early so it doesnt interrupt my labor day weekend at the wisconsin game?

Yeah that's what I was thinking. 1/3 right after waking up, 1/3 before lunch, and 1/3 late afternoon/post-work/class. That way I don't have to worry about anything at night.
ETA: My plan is sets of 20 to start. As I get more in shape I'll work my way up to sets of 50.

Yeah that's not bad.
I do 200 as part of my lifting warm-up every morning. Thinking im gonna do a hundred at lunch and a hundred before my evening run. 400 a day should give me some wiggle room.

You'll be in shape once you're done.
At least your chest will.
