I try to remind myself every time I hit a bad shot or miss an important putt that I am lucky to be outdoors enjoying the day with friends.

Amen. Couple weeks ago I was 8 over on the front and 3 under on the back.

Pars were in short supply.

Every single time I play or practice and I'm a zero capper.

For example, I had a practice session last night. First in 3 weeks. I hit a lot of good shots. Including a stretch of 14, 315-330 yard fairway drives in a row.

However, I also half hoseled a PW and a 4 iron. Also topped a couple 5 woods, sandwiched between 2 five woods that I hit 265. Hit a couple fat 2 irons. And Before I found a groove w my driver, I hit 8-10 weak push fades.

I rarely actually have fun when I practice. Because 75
% will be really high level tour level distance, trajectory, spin rates, launch, accuracy, shot shaping, etc and 25% of it is dog shite, high handicapper type shite.

Add in shitty bayou oaks mats, tees, toptracers that don't work, 110 degree heat, mosquitoes everywhere

By the end of my range session today, I not only wanted to quit golf, but I wanted to move out of the State.

Nope. I don't play golf to make money or be good. I play golf to relax and that helps me make good shots. Golf is hard enough without the added pressure.

Go out to have a good time and see if that relaxed state doesn't improve your game.

My interpretation of my shotmaking arsenal

“half hoseled a PW and a 4 iron.”
The Spanish fade

“Also topped a couple 5 woods,”
Flighting the ball down

“Hit a couple fat 2 irons.”
Using the ground

“weak push fades.”

I wish I could have that outlook. I am hard on myself. The peaks and valleys of this game (even within a practice session) are really mentally taxing.

I am looking forward to cooler weather. My enjoyment level and grace for poor shots is generally higher if I am not soaking wet and getting swarmed by mosquitoes.

I stopped going to bayou oaks. Just too expensive for what you get and predictably the top tracer shite stopped working after a few months. Last like 3 or 4 times I went the top tracer wasn't working for the bay I was in.

Dude it's been so bad over there. The problem is, they kind of are my only semi convenient option.

Chateau has a grass range (sometimes the grass is too soft and sandy for my taste). No shot data which I've become somewhat reliant on.

TPC of LA grass range was also iffy the last time I used it and you have to play a round to even use it.

Timberlane is a billion miles away

I low key might need to move to Baton Rouge just to be able to play and practice golf at a decent level.

There's a baw on Metairie road with a sim studio.

It's a bit pricey, but if you buy the package he offers, it comes out to like 35ish bucks an hour, which ain't that much higher than Bayou Oaks these days.

Full trackman set up with cameras. I feel like my practice sessions are 10x more productive at the studio vs a normal range, so I can justify the higher cost with the argument that the quality of my practice now far outweighs the quantity I was doing before at bayou oaks.

While it's certainly annoying that the top tracer has mostly stopped working at bayou oaks, I don't think it was remotely accurate even when it was working. I'm seeing my ball clearly land behind the yellow flag on the left, but the top tracer is saying I was 5 yards short even after roll out.

Every time I play. I have quit more times than I can remember, sometimes for weeks or months but then something brings me back.

Low hooks, I mean really low hooks that make the game frustrating as all get out.

I am now playing again after watching a cure video for those dreaded hooks and it is working but I need to go practice but it is just too damned hot outside.

I actually reversed those 9's yesterday including an eagle, birdie, birdie start. It was almost depressing by the end of the round, but I am looking forward to trying again tomorrow.

Man, I feel for you. Getting off to a hot start like that and then going to pieces just sucks.

Not supposed to just quit cold turkey. First, ya gotta take two weeks off and then ya quit.

I will tell you that two kids and a very unforgiving job have severely limited my golfing in the last three years.

I’ve been focusing more on fishing because I find it relaxes me more and I don’t mind going out by myself in my kayak. I’ve found that I’d rather play with a group than by myself as I’ve gotten older.
