Would Jack have become a legend with this current generation of fans?

All I hear is Scottie is “boring” and a “non-needle” mover

Look, I get that for golfers like Zach Johnson and such. But Scotties game is electric and far from boring. And his interviews are great.

I truly don’t know what the current geeked up 5 min attention span fanbase would think of Jack. He was a great non storyline family man off the course so I guess he would be “boring” too.

May be why's he's the best player in the game right now. While JT and Jordan are making Tiktok videos and docuseries, Scottie is practicing. And it shows, greatly.

Smoking a cig in the 60s and 70s would be the equivalent of Scottie drinking a Red Bull today

People are dumb. This is the best we've seen someone play since Tiger's prime. His game is just on another level, if people can't appreciate that, it's their own fault. One guy was on here complaining a week or two ago about him not being a good #1 because his swing was ugly. Again, people are dumb.

He won so much he would be a legend based on winning alone, regardless of personality. It's be impossible even for the 5 minute attention span fans to deny that type of greatness. I feel like that's how Scottie is going to have to be to be the next superstar/needle mover. Just keep winning. and it'll come naturally, regardless of his personality (which I like) or how flashy he is.

Similar to Djokvic in tennis in a way. People definitely don't dislike Scottie like people did Novak when he first started winning, but at some point you just have to be like damn, this dude is one of the GOATS and I have to respect him if anything simply based on how incredible he is at the sport. Novak had Federer and Nadal fans to overcome. But it got to the point where even Federer and Nadal die hards had to just be like, ok, yea, Novak is a bad arse. There were guys I liked more than Scottie, but at this point I'm pretty much rooting for him to win everything because I want to see this type of greatness continue.

Yeah pretty dumb comment for sure. Some of the best golfers of all time had unconventional and “ugly” swings no one would ever teach.

I think not being married into a certain swing technical components is a huge plus. Not enough golfers seem to have that freedom now which is why they seem like roller coasters of highs and lows

To respond to jack smoking, Scotties first stop when getting home wasn’t to his 9 month pregnant wife, it was to a local dive bar in Dallas

Jack would be a more responsible John Daly today.

He would amaze people with his length and his Tiger like ability to think his way around the course.

Jack was always personable and a good interview. He would be generous with his money and his time.

I have no doubt that he would be a fan favorite and a player to be respected.

Who is saying this? He almost had 2 eagles on par 4s at the masters on Sunday. What more do you want?

It’s not his fault everyone else shite the bed.

No lie. Last year in June/July I had my two best months off the tee by doing a Scottie Texas Two Step. Feet were all over the place swinging out of my shoes but I was hitting it long and straight down the pipe. Probably because my miss is not committing to the shot and being afraid to push/slice I would block myself. Swinging free with no care worked. Somehow I got away from that for "control" and it didn't work out.

I think I'm going back to the Scottie Two Step.

Oh, and Scottie is a great follow. If you have a son, you'd want him to grow up and be like Scottie. Great role model.

No doubt. When I swing out of my shoes, I produce a slice bigger than Dallas. He manages to keep it tight because his swing is just fundamentally ideal.

IMO Scheffler is a breath of fresh air.

Golf seemingly has been taken over by frat bros who are pushing for social media content.

JT, Spieth, DJ etc have made plenty of money and are "comfortable", while it seems like Scheffler is still hungry to actually, you know, WIN

Jack was thought of like Scottie when he first came onto the scene… he was milquetoast, boring, robotic, he was made fun of for being overweight, not dressing well and coming from a Country Club background. To compound things, people loved Arnold Palmer and he was the bully beating up their favorite son.

It really wasn’t until the 70’s that Jack became a more popular figure
