Have no clue, game is all over the place. Used to be sub 10, but now over 10. Can't keep it together for the whole 18. Shoot 37 on the front at Oakwing, then 45 on the back. Just ordered some Calaway Smoke irons, hope that will help bring mine down.

GHIN or Grint app. Those are the two that are usually acceptable for most tournaments.

Most apps will keep your unofficial handicap, I use 18 birdies.

USGA has an official app for GHIN, i believe there's a cost though.

my index is an 8 as I average 80 for most rounds. Lowest round being a 70 with the highest being a 93. Plenty of rounds in the high 70s. No clue what that calculates to, but my buddy says that the handicap is based on your potential and not necessarily your average. Is this true? If so, my potential is probably scratch or a 1, but i just dont see it as i average an 80.

Sorry, not well versed in the golf handicap world

Part of it is the potential thing like you’re saying but some of it average too so that can get you. To be a one you’d have to average at least 75 or lower.

then would it be safe to say im more of a 4 or 5 if I average 80 and shoot upper 70s all the time?

Maybe a shade higher. 6 or 7 given the higher scores bringing the average up. It all depends. Try GHIN and transfer your scores and it’s pretty spot on. You can also enter each round by hole instead of overall scores and that changes it some.

Finally an honest poster. No way my 17.9 is the worst on this board.

Currently a 6.3. It’s been fun getting my handicap down. I picked golf back up 3 years ago. My first official cap was around an 11. If I had any kind of consistent short game I’d easily be a 2-3

At an absolute minimum they need to reslope the course.

MCC has this problem as well.

On GHIN it is rated as a really really easy course, but those greens are SLICK with plenty of break.

I've played much easier (imo) courses that are rated way higher than MCC post-reno.
