If it was back to pristine and private, I've always thought it would be a good duo/trio membership deal with other clubs.
Basically, if you join one club, you've joined both.
Could do:
Bluffs/Uclub
Bluffs/Island/Pelican
Bluffs/Carter/Greystone
A lot of combinations could make it interesting. Not sure that would work with the current ownership or if you'd have to buy the other courses.

So how does the money get distributed between the clubs? It would basically have to double the cost of belonging to one unless there’s a discounted rate and then you’d have to have a bunch of them.
The bluffs budget has to be around 1 mill a year to be in pristine condition I would guess

Great news that they're investing.
I'll probably do an out of town membership if they offer one

would imagine it would have to be a reciprocal agreement between the clubs...not like you can belong to one and play all you want at the others...

I think Carter and The Bluffs did it awhile back. Carter members got to play at The Bluffs for a cart fee or something similar. It went the other way too. Could set up something similar with the other courses and just cap rounds at the other courses.
It would make more sense to own both. Then it becomes one club, 36 holes, but the holes are spread out 35 minutes apart.

Again. It’s easily an hour from The Island or Greystone to The Bluffs. It’s almost two hours from Carter to The Bluffs. All of these times are minus BR traffic. But if you lived in BR I could see the draw to have the option to play any of those courses at a member rate. It’s a great idea that I imagine all clubs could benefit from.

Carter and The Bluffs…35 minutes apart?

Most wouldn’t be willing to pay a dual membership fee. Pelican will be looking to go private within two years anyway.

That’s why you can’t make it a normal country club. It needs to be a weekend getaway place.

Can’t be a destination golf resort and neighborhood country club. One or the other.

You can be both and call it a resort.

Nah. I’m not paying a bunch of money to relax by a pool and have some curtain climbers screaming and splashing in the pool next to me. Or be in the middle of a hole and have a bunch of kids hollering and playing music riding by on a golf cart. I can’t imagine skeet shooting near a neighborhood either? Fishing, they don’t have that either. Shopping and dining in SFV are an option but when I go to a resort, I don’t want to leave for an excursion to go eat or go to a haunted house.

Haha.. Yeah, Carter is one of the closest courses to me at 30 min away, and The Bluffs is at least 45 minutes away.
90 min is probably the correct answer if you live somewhere between both.

This seems to be happening already. A buddy who regularly plays with us out there was told he couldn't play the Lakes course because he had already used up his 3 annual guest passes. That was news to us. No one has communicated anything of the sort to us, but I sure as hell get daily emails about what's for lunch or that the LSU game will be on the big screen.

These exist all over... Pinehurst, Sea Pines, barton creek, Old Waverly, Montagae Palmetto Bluff, Reynolds
Plenty of places are open to membership and resort guests only

Great! So The Bluffs should work out wonderfully and be around for years to come!

Was just typing in generalities. Forgot about our discussion about time to the Bluffs earlier in the thread.

Yeah, hopefully. The financial difficulties a place like this faces are obvious but it's probably the best golf property in the state
Maybe I'm just hopeful because our state sucks so bad for golf but to me there's no reason the bluffs can't become something like Old Waverly, farmlinks or Pine Dunes if they do a great job with the reno. Those places are in rural areas in neighboring states with similar socioeconomics that attract enough resort play to at least keep the doors open

I just know you must be a bag full of fun to be around...
