Did you see his provisional?

I'm pretty sure it went farther left.

Nah... I was just following on the PGA Tour app. I don't think he will ever be a consistently good driver.

I still don't understand why he wants or needs to hit the ball so far off the tee. He is such a good iron player that in my opinion he doesn't need that extra 15-20 yds.

He hit a 3 wood.

Rory put an iron 9 feet from the pin and DJ knocked it about 30 feet beyond with the same club.

Looked like Tiger tried to stripe it and his arms got way ahead of his body. Tried again and did the same thing.

You talking about Tiger or Spieth here?

Tiger’s shot had nothing to do with trying to get more distance and he actually hit the ball pretty well off the tee last week IIRC.

I'm talking about Tiger and I wasn't referring to this shot only. Really referring to his driving in general.

In my opinion it seems like he can swing easy and put it just about anywhere he wants but he tries to swing so hard and loses control.

He does have good weeks here and there but overall his driving accuracy really hurts his game. When he plays from the fairway he is a top 10 player (which is great for his age) but when he drives the ball poorly he makes WAY too many bogeys.

Generally speaking, if Tiger puts it in the fairway, he's more like a top 5 player IMO. I believe he's still arguably the best iron player in the world, and his putting isn't usually as bad as it was last week. His wedge game is still elite as well. Oddly enough, he seems to perform better on more difficult wedge shots around the green than he does on straight forward chips.

But as others have said, Tiger has always had issues keeping it in the fairway off the tee, even in his prime. Tiger is just physically unable to pull off quite as many shots as he could when he was younger to make up for errant tee shots.

With all the Matt Kuchar talk.

He is one old looking 40 yr old.

He cakes his face in sunscreen but dang pro golfers must inflict a bunch of sun damage on their skin.

His hair, or lack thereof, has a lot to do with it.

Yes, they do. I'm glad I met my wife when I was young. Her and her mother are sunscreen Nazis. Now, I am as bad or worse than they are. Skin cancer ain't no joke.
