Fair, I don’t play a lot on Saturday’s but I do understand that a lot of people do. I will say that I booked a tee time for Sunday today when I was hitting balls and, while they were decently full, I got a slot pretty darn close to what I was looking for. That’s only a couple days in advance. As I said in my original post, the membership is probably higher than it should be but on the whole I’ve seen a lot worse. I definitely agree that they should be looking at another 18. When you have a wait list and a premier collegiate program then why not take the new members and expand.

All that being said, the current state of the club is not out of control which is what a lot of the people on this site are insinuating.

With football season upon us I think weekend tee times in the mid afternoon will be more readily available. It is almost impossible to get an early tee time on a weekend morning unless you are in a group. Like stated previously, the marshals only enforce who has paid and never pace of play. During the weekdays I have played many of times where no marshal was to be found on the first tee but riding the front 9 in reverse to get the names of players. Tee times are also difficult because they do a horrible job (if they even try to) pair people up to make a foursome. They are also raising dues effective Oct 1st, but no mention in the letter of by how much.

Bc they have a waiting list of people willing to pay for what’s offered now. No reason to outlay any money on building another 18

The people saying build another 18 where would you like this to happen at? All of the property around UC is locked by homes and continual development.

I think they own, or have an option, on the land across the road toward the river. Also wanted to add that the course was wide open today when I played. No one on our tail or in front.

First Saints game and opening week of teal season take some people off the course

Is greystone open to the public at all or do you need to know a member? I've never found a place to get tee times.

Open to public. Members can book online. Public calls in.

Heck. I didn't know that. Their website acts like it's public, listing the costs and whatnot, but no where to book.

Thanks for the heads up.

I wasn't commenting on the logistics. Just saying another 18 would be well used.

In BR? Only when LSU isn't playing and hunting season isn't going on and only on Saturday mornings.

It isn't BREC's fault golfers in Louisiana have other priorities besides golf and don't really value the sport.

BREC has largely done what I thought they should do which is close a few courses. I think the only thing they need to do now is raise prices at their premium locations at premium times. BC and SM.

If LSU closes for good plus with the Bluffs reopening the BR Area market will be prime for investment into our current courses to make them nice and consistent.

I have never understood the bootlicking for the governmental entity BREC, but you do you brotha.

UClub gets an absurd amount of play.

The Bluffs is never going to be a good and profitable course.

I've never understood your inability to reconcile why it exists.

Someone said in this thread last Sunday it was wide open and that they never have a problem getting a tee time on a non-Saturday morning.

Do they have a lot of play for BR? Yes. Do they have too many members? Yes. Do they need another 18? Laughable.

I fully understand why subsidies and welfare exist. I just don't understand why people are confused that when they do exists it generally means quality will suffer and/or prices will skyrocket.

See healthcare or college.

Might as well put in a property owners requirement as well with the way that will be viewed.

And then like 3 people said that's not true. Arguing UClub doesn't get more than enough play is absurd. And even if people don't go actually play golf, 700 people are still paying monthly dues.

It's a ridiculous arguement

Public courses are different than private courses. BRCC is under utilized 100% of everyday based on your standards. But that's the exact point of private golf. You want u club to book every tee time before building another 18 and that is asinine.

I mean I was the one playing Sunday so I know for a fact it was wide open. Someone came in and said saints game and teal season. If it isn’t one excuse it’s another. Sure the course is packed on Saturday mornings but outside of a goat tract I would challenge you to find a course that isn’t at that time. I’ve never had an issue getting a tee time.

Once again, I still think there are a hair too many members there but in all my experiences there it hasn’t been bad at all. That why I love tigerdroppings, someone probably had to wait on a tee box one time and now the course is unsustainably over crowded.
