My set PW is 47, so I carry 54 and a 60
So I'm able to carry a 9 degree driver, 12 mini, 15 three wood, 18 degree 2/driving iron, 18.5 5 wood (old school tech so it's more like a 20-21 7 wood tbh)
I skip a 3 iron and go to 23 degree 4 iron. I also don't carry a 5 iron. I carry a 28 degree 6 iron. 7 iron is 33 loft. 8 iron-39, 9 iron-43.
Moral of story. Get good enough with short irons so you can hit old school blade lofts, so your PW is close enough to gap w a 54 degree. Get good with your wedges and you can do whatever you want at the top of your bag.

Lofts really have gone down so much.
Your PW is 47.
I saw some specs for a “new” set with PW loft at 41.5.
No wonder most iron sets go 6 through PW.

I started questioning this yesterday. I can't hit fairway woods or hybrids for shite. 3 Hybrid (19deg) in particular is supposed to get up in the air easier than a long iron. But it doesn't. It's either 35' off the ground max, or a sky ball, and who knows what direction it'll go.
Irons are currently 5 thru Gap. I'm seriously contemplating trying out something like the Titleist U505 utility iron in a 3 or 4 iron loft to replace the Hybrid. Would keep the 3 wood and keep working to improve that club. But one less club I'm lost with in the bag.

Just acquired a 4 U505. Can't help but hit the thing dead straight. I've always struggled with hooking hybrids.

We are in the same club speed window. As much fun as the 17° is to hit it really leaves to big of a gap beneath it and it’s not quite long enough to replace my 3w. I think the 19° newest version is in my future because I love the club. Can definitely see it filling in for my 3w though when I have the inevitable spells were it just refuses to cooperate.
