The Srixon cult is now accepting applications to fill the high handicap spots...

GolfWRX

quote:

“The new Srixon ZX4 irons mark a new revolution in forgiveness for Srixon. The irons include a fully hollow construction with wide soles for getting the center of gravity extremely low and providing maximum forgiveness from the turf.

The ZX4 irons accomplish this in addition to Mainframe technology, Tour V.T.Soles, tungsten weighting, and the look and feel expected with Srixon ZX irons.”

Not sure if this company can get much better.

Pretty looking clubs. $200 lower starting price point from the “top” name brands is awesome too.

I got my hands on the ZX5 and ZX7. They look a lot like a Mizuno. There wasn’t enough to make me give up my 565’s these will be interesting.

I’m a low handicapper who wants max forgiveness yet forged feel. The 565s have that.

The only reason I'd give up my 585's is because I simply love the way the ZX line looks. But I'm going to wait a few years before doing that. No reason to change my current set up. They're long, forgiving, and just go straight.

565/765 combo here. Got fitted with Nippon shafts and the performance is everything I could ask for. Not sure why I would change any time soon, but I could see replacing my 4 iron with one of these.

I’ve got a brand new Srixon UDI 4i that I’m not using. It has a recoil 90 shaft. I have to reshaft it or sell it. You interested?

I'm a high 80s/90s golfer and the ZX5 were great for me. Coming in next week.

Not sure you need any more forgiveness than that.

I've got a set of 745s I got back in 2015. They're in my spare club bag in the closet right now because I've been playing the 965s since 2019. I've tested several different brands over the years, but nothing beats the Srixon irons for my game.

The 745s are the best sole and the heal relief. The ZX series returns to that. Most that have 745s have returned to them the other iterations, but are now turning to ZX7. Srixon clubs are money.

This board plus the internet praise has had me salivating over the ZX series for my new set of irons in upcoming months. If my 7 iron carry is high 150’s with a 32 degree loft, do you guys think the ZX5’s would suit me down through 4 iron or would a hollow head like this be more appropriate?

Get fitted. I hit my 7i 170 and can hit it farther. I hit the 565's They just suited my swing better. 7i distance really has nothing to do with it.

I went to my fitter last week to do some gap testing on the top end of the bag. He had the ZX fitting irons, but I didn't swing them as I was exhausted. The shape was absolutely perfect. My only complaint about the Z745 is the sole is a little thick for my liking. One thing I have liked about every iteration since is they did a small grind on the trail end of the sole to take that width away. That said, the ZX7 looks absolutely perfect.

All that to say, the 965s I've been playing for the last while aren't any less forgiving than the 745s.

Anyone can hit it further these days... just buy a 4i with "7" stamped on it and call it technology.

7 iron lofts on zx4 are 5 degrees stronger than P770 or i210

1.5 degrees stronger than g425

Same as Sim 2

Anyone on here finding themselves going back to traditional lofts? I just sold my Apex 19s a couple months ago and bought a combo set of Apex 19 Pro Dots/MB combo for the lofts.

Now I don't have to worry about my 6 iron going 185 or catching a flyer to 205. Or hitting a pull that still travels as far as a straight shot just 40 yards left of target

I think people are definitely pulling back a little on the strong, crazy lofts with hot faces. You're seeing less money and marketing toward the lines that get released with the drivers (Epic/Maverik/etc) and carry the same names. For one, people are becoming more informed and also, like your situation where a club that is meant to go a certain number flies an extra 15 yards because you hit it "perfectly" that one time out of 10. So you flush one, feel great about the swing and strike, but you're over the green and short sided.

My thoughts exactly lol. I'm content with my current setup now, as a poorly hit shot will just come up short for me

I was really trying to give an indicator of swing speed capable of getting desirable launch and spin down through long irons.

Also, please let me know who has full sets for fitting in BR area.
