Beat a loaded field that includes the #1 junior in the world.

He hasn’t exactly performed at the big events before this. This is extremely impressive. There is 3-5 top juniors/amateurs in the world here

He got beat by a 14 year old who shot a 67 in the local US Open qualifier.

Looks like he had a good round in this event. Let’s not call him elite

Dude

He just beat 3 of the top juniors on the planet 2 of them that are top 50 amateurs, not just junior golfers

He shot 70-65-66

That ain’t just one round hoss….He clearly has world class game. You can’t win that event otherwise

He did shoot -15 against an elite field, but it is just one tournament.

But referencing an 18 hole qualifier to discount him is one of the more ridiculous things I’ve read. That 14 year old may have just made everything he looked at that day then go shoot 80-80 in sectionals

Someone on the internet said it!

I truly believe you really use Twitter golf as your sources of reference

Unless his buddy fell into heroin or quit, not 15 year old winner of an AJGA invitational isn’t making it to college golf

Woods doing this shows his potential. As I mentioned in OP he hasn’t really had any success. This happening is a completely surprise but it’s not something you can just luck into over 3 rounds against this field.

I feel sorry for the kid, no matter what he does, he will always be compared to his father who is the best golfer to ever live. That's going to be a hard burden to bear, to always have people judging you for how you played compared to your dad. Golf is hard enough without those crazy expectations.

You must have really felt bad for all Nicklaus's sons.

I could be dead wrong but i honestly don't see that being the case with him. I don't think there is any sane person that will have his expectations set as the goat/that's who you compare him to.

If he somehow manages to be better than %99.999 of golfers out there and make the PGA Tour, that will be a huge accomplishment. If he actually manages to win a Tour event, even crazier. I don't think you're going to see graphics pop up on the TV showing stats of Charlie Woods side by side to his dads. Just would seem like a dumb thing to do.

Also, the kid is never going to work a day in his life, I don't feel too sorry for him regardless

I'm not saying Charlie is a lock to make the tour or anything but on what planet is shooting 15 under par across 3 rounds on a 7200 yard course not considered elite?

This board is pretty funny on what is considered a good golfer or not. The other day we had someone on here saying that Jordan Spieth is legit not a good golfer.

Charlie is obviously a really good golfer. I'm rooting for him. I'd probably not refer to him as world class though. I kind of reserve that for the Tour guys.

Anyone that shoots a 66 in a tournament is elite.

It doesn’t mean he’ll make it on tour, but to scoff at a 66 means you don’t know shite about golf.

ETA I just saw he shot 65 the day before. Happy for him. Lot of pressure on that kid.

If Charlie's dad was the face of LIV, Jim would be rubbing one out at Charlie's performance
