Anyone done it? Weighing shipping vs carrying on a plane.
Thoughts?
Prices?

I buy/sell on golfwrx a lot.

USPS is cheapest and costs around $30-$40 depending on where you send them and if you’re ok with a usually slower delivery.

UPS will be $50+ for normal delivery and considerably higher for one day type stuff.

Also, it’s not the weight you pay for, it’s the overall dimensions. So pack it tight to save money.

Fed Ex was cheaper for me but was only a full set of irons, not the whole bag

To each his own but for me, bringing them from my car to the check in desk at BTR just isn't that big of an issue. There are other factors included, rental car, transportation upon arrival, etc but I don't see the hassle in flying with your clubs. Ship Sticks isn't perfect and you have a much better chance of not having your clubs shipping them vs flying with them in my experience.

USPS has stolen clubs from me before… theyve also leaned them up against my mailbox rather than drive their fatasses down the drive way.

Never shipped but fly with them all the time.

I just got a new travel bag, the club glove soft bag with the hard rod.

It was way easier to get around with then my previous travel bag which was a hard shell travel bag. When I got my clubs the hard rod was slightly bent so I’m glad I had it in there!

I’ve flown only with them. Considered shipping next trip for convenience. Would NOT ship my normal or sentimental clubs though and would insure them for double the cost.

I have traveled three time to play golf.
Went to Maine and brought my clubs. No issues.
Traveled to Bandon Dunes twice and used Ship Sticks both times. No issues at all.
My impression is that larger/popular resorts are very familiar with shipped clubs and have a great system.
Was kind of nice not having to lug them around. Show up at resort and they are waiting for you. Nice.

Oh yeah, I insured the hell out of them (double).

I've used shipsticks several times as well. UPS was their carrier all the times I've used them. Just show up at the clubhouse, my bag is waiting for me. Very convenient.
