They are looking at 9 or 18 holes. Unlike Shenandoah or Fairview, houses were not built on their course. We've always said "if just one of they affordable clubs had stayed in business they others closing would have helped them".

I went there to hit range balls and saw the sign up sheet. "Sign if you would join for $235/month".

The whole course is still out there, they just need to cut the grass and install some irrigation.

mowing the grass is a $20,000 operation for that place right now...Even if i still lived in BR I would not join.

Do they still have a range out there?

I absolutely love that course. Played it a lot when I was younger. I was actually thinking about it yesterday. My dad used to love it and still live nearby, he would totally sign up for a membership if they got it going again.

Where should I send him to express his interest?

They driving range and tennis facility is called: Legacy and Bonne Esperance

It's this strange place that has an empty golf course, a great functioning driving range, tennis members, a clubhouse with restaurant, and an unusualy nice gym.

You can join for $99/month now. For $235 with golf, I'll definitely sign up.

So, could I send him over there to just the range without signing up for the membership now? While out there he can tell them if they get the course going he will join.

Yep. It's just a clipboard, no official obligation. They had 155 signed up when I was there last week.

Just let the place die.

I grew up at that club, worked there, and spent most of my youth there. I will never return if they reopen. It will spoil all the memories.

There is no way it wouldn't take some major landscaping work to get it back to decent shape. That course likely hasn't been touched in years.

He did mention maybe just opening 3 holes (1, 17, 18). That would be cool for getting in some work after hitting balls.

I hope I'm wrong here.... but there is 0% chance it will reopen. It would need 500-600k just for irrigation alone. Then, at least one bridge needs a full replacement. I'll bet at least one more needs replacement too. That's another 100k. Greens and bunkers have to be completely redone. No telling what that cost is.

It's over.

Was it not irrigated before? Or did they rip it out?

They had irrigation but it needed to be replaced back in 2011. It wasn't even automated, ha. Literally had crews there at nights turning valves on and off.

Then, all the pumps were sold when the club sold.

Snatch isn't it something like 600 members at $235 could get it back? Or do they need other money upfront?
