I made 11 pars and 7 bogeys.

I finished with 3 straight 2 putt pars.

Had a couple of sand saves and a few up and downs.
No penalty strokes.

I know many of you would feel bad about 79, but for a 10 index like me it was a fun day.
Tomorrow o the GHIN, I’ll be single digits again.

Awesome and Congrats !

It takes a lot of work to go from the 80' to the 70's.

In my last 20 rounds, I have three scores of exactly 80.

It’s only one shot, but it feels like 3!

BTW, I hit several nice shots with a 28degree SIM hybrid today.

I have 7 head covers now IF you include the putter.

I may go all in on hybrid like clubs.I find my contact is better.

Bizarrely, I carry a 64 degree wedge. Hit 4 bunker shots today. 7, 3, 2, and 10 feet.

On turf, I doubt I can hit it 40 yards. I have used it short side some.

Go for it!!! There’s no shame in gaming the equipment that gives you the best chance to score. Check out the Sub70 799s

Congrats on the round!!

Coach,

On the Sub70s, which shaft option might be best for me?

I’m looking for something light, graphite maybe 55 gms

That’s a tough call without knowing anything about your swing. I do know that when you go to customize the clubs, Senior flex is an option. They have Aldila NV45 and 55. Honestly, I don’t know much about those shaft, but will vouch for Sub70. Their customer service is second to none. Give them a call.

Congrats. I’ve been playing this game for 20+ years and still haven’t broken 80. I’ve been at 82-87 and stumbling further into 90s lately. Enjoy the good times and keep grinding.

I’m the same way. Swapped out my 5 iron for a 5 hybrid and I hit that club so well now.

Congrats on breaking 80! Only time I’ve done that was at Audubon

I thought I was the only bizarro that carried a 64*...

Great job! Those rare rounds when it all comes together are so gratifying. Have to celebrate the victories in this game.

I’m resolving to celebrate any good shot.

The game is hard.

I only hit 5 greens.
Was on the collar 4 times. Green side bunkers 5 times.

I think the keys were:
1. No 3 putts (I did use a Texas Wedge twice where I missed the next one, but technically not a putt)
2. No penalty strokes
3. Keeping it open to the line of play.
4. Luck.

And todays update is “reversion to the mean is real.”

88 with a birdie.

I’ll try again tomorrow.
