lol...I know, which is why they are IC's.

I'm aware.

Depending on the terms of a contract, the contractor may be able to terminate the contract as can the company.

Also aware.

That’s what the PGA Tour is saying. You can end the contract with us but you can’t work with us again.

Yeah, I'm not disputing any of this.

Pretty sure Monahan has said those players who play in the competing tournaments face being banned from playing on the Tour.

Did he? That may be the case and if it is then he is putting himself into a bigger corner than i thought. Can you imagine when a tournament sponsor wants a player to play in their event and the commish says no

What a cluster

ETA: after a quick google search, I think they can still play. But I’m four bourbons in and am probably wrong.

Greg Norman called out the PGA Tour for threatening to ban golfers who join a different league in a strongly-worded letter sent to commissioner Jay Monahan on Thursday.

"You can't ban players from playing golf," Norman said. "Players have the right and the freedom to play where we like. I know for a fact that many PGA [Tour] players were and still are interested in playing for a new league, in addition to playing for the Tour. What is wrong with that?"

In the letter, Norman points out golfers are independent contractors, saying that Monahan has threatened to hand out lifetime bans to any golfers who leave for a league not sponsored by the PGA Tour. Norman, a two-time winner of The Open Championship, is the CEO of LIV Golf Investments, which is funding a Saudi-backed golf tour.

So the lifetime ban is for pga tour membership or teeing it up in an event?

ETA: I’m sure he can and will change the rules but any bum can Monday qualify now and if you finish high enough in the tournament you are exempt the next week. Also sponsors have spots that they hand out every week. Guess all of that will come to an end.

From what I've read, they would lose their membership and no longer be allowed to play.

He went nuclear.

They would have to pay the non member fee to Monday qualify. $500. And even if they win the golf tournament all they would get is into next event as if it’s a top 10. It would also be 0 fed ex points and $0 towards their money list.
