LIV has money, but zero cache which is what the Saudis want. PGA tour weathered the initial storm and have the upper hand now

Yep, LIV’s model isn’t working. They tried to make a huge splash to force the PGAs hand into a deal. If I’m the PGA, I wait out since it seems the fans have spoken which tour they watch and support the most by far.

DJ's give a frick went out the door in November 2020 when he put the green jacket on.

LIV money in 2022 made that $100 mil+ reasons to never have to worry about money on top the pile of cash he made on tour.

FWIW - had a conversation with a father of a PGAT golfer.

He pretty much confirmed that the dismal liv ratings has the PGA basically saying there’s 2 options for PIF:

- Give us a ton of money, kill LIV, and we’ll ’merge’.

- Go F yourself and we’ll just deal with the players once their contracts expire.

It would be crazy for the PGAT to react any other way right now

Their ratings are back. Why would they take any deal besides what’s above?

Because they aren’t the ones bringing the billions to the table….

LIV tv ratings have been bad in USA. But that is mostly because the pga made sure their tv partners didn’t partner with LIV, so they ended up on lesser network like CW. They are now on Fox, we will see how it does in Miami and the tournaments that are in the US/Mexico

I hope they do merge, and LIV has lots of flaws but they have shown the PGA needs to focus some more on international. I think it would be great if pga and payed 10-12 tournaments a year internationally. Places like Australia. Help grow the game. Maybe those 10-12 could be the “compromise” with LIV to for pga to get the billions of investment and have LIV be their international swing they do 10-12 tournaments a year.

PGA certainly has the upper hand in terms of relevance and branding. But they want/need the PIF money. So eventually they will find a deal structure that works.

Can’t imagine why Yasir wouldn’t be on board with that…. LIV isn’t just going away.

Jay is really stubborn & if LIV loses guys like Koepka, we will be back to square one. It’s not like PIF is running out of money. They will throw ridiculous amounts at more guys, probably international (Hideki, Aberg, etc).

PGA Tour has a golden opportunity to be the good guys, bring professional golf back together & make Trump happy and Jay fumbles the bag again.

Have they? It seems like the only place LIV has had any success is Australia.

I don’t think the PGA needs to focus on playing in Singapore and the Middle East unless they want similar ratings to what LIV is getting.

I don't think I've ever seen Fox host a sporting event aside from Football, that didn't suck arse. Maybe NASCAR back when it was relevant. I can't imagine them doing golf worth a shite.

Didn't they get the US Open one time with Norman in the booth?

And they had Holly Sonders interviewing players just before her career trajectory went into free fall and she ended up passing straight through "Trailer Trash" and landed firmly into the "B Grade Internet Porn Star" category.

It's all explained here: LINK

This has been tried before and it didn’t work. The World Golf Championships had events all over the world and when it ended they only had the one left and it was in Austin, Texas.
