As a golfer/participant, I would rate it very, very highly. As a golf fan, it just doesn't do anything for me.

He’s still the #1 golfer in Thailand. He’s missed the cut in his last 6 tournaments. Needs to play more on Asian Tour & try to qualify for LIV

I think it’ll grow in prestige the more it happens. Nobody grew up pretending to make a putt to win a gold medal because it wasn’t an option. I can’t put it above the majors though. I think, at this point, I’d have the Ryder Cup ahead of it, but above The Player’s.

Yeh this is about right

Tennis has had it for 36 years and it still isn’t close to a grand slam event or even really the 1000 level events like Indian Wells and such

Just turned it on to catch the last few holes for Hideki, Fleetwood, & Scheffler

The Players has been declared by many people as “golf’s fifth major.”

Back in the day, the Western Open had a real cache.

I think the Olympic Golf will gain stature as the years roll by, but it’s early in its modern form to say it is a major.

It’s a big deal. Not quite a major though.

LFG Rahmbo

Back to back birdies to get him tied for the lead with Fleetwood at -11.
Xander & Hideki at -10 now

Rory & Day sneaking up the leaderboard. Haven’t seen much from Scheffler & Niemann today

ETA: Rahm bogey the par 3 8th every round so far

Equal to a major? Regular tour event?

To me personally it feels like a more elevated event. I guess maybe in the same category or just below the players.

I think it will be comparable to how tennis treats the Olympics going forward. It’s hard to judge just because there’s no history. It’s hard when guys like Jack, Tiger, etc never competed in it.

ETA: if Tommy wins I’m sure he’ll count it as a major

NBC doing a horrible job with keeping the leaderboard on the screen.

NBC for whatever reason is terrible at golf coverage. They did a really bad job at the open too I felt.

Rooting for LIV players over the Americans is certainly a choice you’re allowed to make. I just don’t know why you’d do it.

Also, how much do we think an Olympics saves the rest of Jon Rahm’s terrible major season?

25%?

Xander walking in that eagle putt

Also, I do think NBC stinks at golf coverage in general, but I’m pretty sure they’re using an IOC feed for this.

Rooting for Xander too, but I’ll win a lot more if Rahm pulls through

Oh please. He hasn’t had a terrible year, you’ve only watched him play in 3 majors. 2 wins in a row would be huge
