Olde Oaks has been in rough shape for a few years now.

Played there Saturday and its worse now than I have seen it in the last 5+ years, the bar wasn't even open on a Saturday. $50 for a round out there is insane.

That's hard to believe that it is in even worse shape now. How do you not have the bar open on a Saturday?

We went out there a couple of years ago In August and had a tee time at 3 on a Friday. I was running a little late but my group was already there. Apparently the person in the clubhouse was getting angry because he had to wait on me because he wanted to leave early. After I paid, he closed the clubhouse down and made the cart boy wait in his truck the whole time while we played. There were a couple of groups in front of us but we were the last ones to tee off. No water on the course and of course the clubhouse was closed because the clown decided to leave early. We were dying out there and vowed never to go spend money there again

What are you talking about? Have you not seen the renovated Southern Trace course, and are you aware that East Ridge is also in the process of a major renovation presently that will open this fall?

i've been riding my bike on the Oaks nine (the closed nine) in the evenings. It's legit a perfect bike ride fwiw. But a month or so ago some of the holes were starting to be cut and was actually looking kind of nice. Actually took my golf cart out there late one evening and hit some balls on some of the holes for old times sake. Was kind of fun.

But a week or so ago hole #4 had like 500 small holes dug in it. The next day I ride and they have all of them planted with trees. So obviously not ever bringing that nine back open. I actually called LSU Ag center in Haughton and let them know because the owners are constantly doing shady stuff out there and if they are doing stuff that might affect my property value, I'm going to do something about it. Turns out a few people had already called. LSU Ag and some forestry people went out there that same day. As of now they've planted trees on three of the holes now. So looks like they are doing it for timber.

Long story short I was riding last night and stopped and talked to a couple walking and they said the course has sold So I was pumped to hear that but also slightly hesitant because the first thing they've done is plant a bunch of trees for a tax write off or timber. Don't know who the new owners are but am curious to find out their plans and if they own other courses. Not sure if they also bought Stonebridge but I doubt they sold Stonebridge.

It'd be nice if some new owners would put some money into it.

Tax assessors office still shows G2 golf LLC (JI) as the owner, so must have recently sold or they're incorrect.

Keep us posted if you hear anything, that’d be really big news if true. I have asked some people that live out there and they haven’t heard anything about it being sold. I want to believe ha.

Yea next sunny day I'm going to go down to the clubhouse and ask the owner. The wife works in the pro shop most afternoons. She plays dumb with a lot of stuff so I doubt she'll give me a straight answer though. I've never been to a HOA meeting in my life and don't pay my HOA dues because I cut the lot next to my house for free but I think I might go to my first one

No I’m probably done playing the am tour unfortunately. New job and my son playing tee ball will keep me from being able to play. Not that either is a bad thing! I just love competitive golf and that tour is basically the only thing around that gives me that outlet.

It sold.

To Impact Tree. Their website is an absolute joke. They plant these lab grown trees that grow super fast so they produce more timber than your average tree.

The guy posted a video of him out at Olde oaks yesterday saying he owned all the land and that "Some people say they look at a forest and see a golf course, well i looked at a golf course and saw a forest." his video and website is extremely discouraging. Sounds like they are going to phase the entire golf course out.

Ji either completely sold it to them or bought into this companies pyramid scheme. You can buy trees for them and get crypto coins in return. The website just screams scam. But yet this is who Ji sold to.

If I see that guy in the street or on the course he is going to get his assed whooped. Going to rip his wife's arse a new one too if I see her at the clubhouse.

It’s a shame. Louisiana golf is dying and first sign is total course neglect. There will be less than 100 courses in the state open by 2030. Worse golf state in the country.

Another update from the Olde Oaks FB page is that people have been complaining to the MPC and they are involved now because the neighborhood isn't zoned for timber and they planted probably 5000 trees before a rezoning and before a sale was finalized. Lawsuits incoming. It's a shitshow.

Still shows he owns everything on parish website. Wonder if he just "leased" the land to them.

For real.

I made a post in the Olde Oaks residents FB group (my first time ever posting in these dumb neighborhood groups). In the post I mentioned that Ji was the dumbest person to ever walk this earth, especially if he actually invested in this company and the Olde Oaks golf course Facebook post cried laughing at the post. Love that the jackass saw the post and thought it was funny.

Can't wait to run into his wife so I can tell her off. Hopefully I'll see him out there but I'm guessing he hides at Stonebridge.

If/when they have to pull these trees up i am going to be there laughing my arse off.
