Oakmont once again is being blown way out of proportion

Barstool guys played from the tips (15 days before)
Freaking Trent who sucks arse shot 104 and Francis shot 90
If Trent can shoot 104 from 7500 yards the course isn’t the absolute death trap they are trying to make it out to be
I didn’t watch any of it besides fast forwarding to the end to see the scores because these guys annoy the hell out of me but they said they played real rules

Not saying they didn’t play there, but I find it very difficult to believe that they were let on the golf course to play one week before the US Open, and they aren’t qualified as participants.

They look to be the only ones on the course and they often had to move balls around for the workers.
ETA: looks like it was 15 days before. I’ll edit

If you suck, you suck and any golf course will be hard. There is not much difference between a regular course and a US Open venue. The only time you can make a course harder for a player that can’t break 100 is if you add a ton of water.
However, that doesn’t mean that that same course can not be exponentially more difficult for a great player than a regular course. Its not comparing the same thing at all

I’m responding once again to the discourse this week from the media and the pros on what an average golfer would shoot. It’s so out of hand

The fat guy is a 17 and he shot 104

That is not true at all. There is a huge difference, even if it’s not brutally hard for the pros. Most golf courses have no true rough and mild US Open rough would eat bad golfers alive. The greens are so much faster than most golf courses. Bad golfers would be 3/4 putting like crazy. That’s not even mentioning playing from 7500 yards.

Some PGA golfers have turned into youtubers and tictokers and they dramatize every single thing for clicks.
The barstool guys take it up a few levels on top of that. Sorry to say I had to quit watching them probably a couple of years ago. Just lost interest in their content.
Of course everything in the world is advertised with added made-up drama these days to get peoples' attention. It's cheesy and annoying.

Riggs has to be the worst "4 handicap" in the history of golf.
Also those greens looked they were running at a 10-12 range. Not what will be showing up this week.

A 4 handicap can’t possibly lose to a 17. The probability is off the charts

Obviously playing much more difficult now. Bryson(Sat) & Rory(Mon) played it about 10 days ago

Terrible golfers ain’t making putts and hitting the greens anyway (rough or no rough)

The rough doesn't look nearly as thick now, and the greens are nowhere near as fast either.

You’d saying it looks thicker with the barstool guys?
I mean it’s def plush

Playing the tips and down with the rough up and green speed exactly as it will be this Sunday would add multiple shots per hole. I don’t think they played the exact same course.

I agree with this premise other than I’ll add distance makes a big difference. When you can’t break 100 from 5900 yards, 7500 is going to really hurt

Riggs is severely lacking clubhead speed, so the length of this course and the long rough ate Riggs up. Oakmont from the tips is probably one of the worst courses in the country for his game and everything snowballed for him in this round.
But I could see how he could be a 4 handicap playing from 6300 yards on a regular course (averaging 81-ish with some mid-to-high 70s scores thrown in), in spite of his awful swing and putting stroke. That being said, it's physically painful watching him play golf.

No they sure didn't. Oakmont had all the youtube golfers out on the same day a few weeks ago to film rounds. Greens were slower and softer, rough was shorter. Nowhere close to the same course we'll see this week.

The only thing worse than a LIV thread is a barstool thread
